Guys, is there a cooler car chase movie that Smokey and The Bandit?

Cannonball Run was bad ass, but the first Smokey and The Bandit is just as cool as it gets.

"East bound and down..."

DWB 04-26-2007 01:12 PM

I miss shit like that.

Grindhouse, the second part with Kurt Russell was kick ass. We need to bring back car chase movies!!!!

LilBro 04-26-2007 01:12 PM

Ronin

Naw man... those are just SCENES. I mean full movies about cars, heros, running from the law... old school.

RP Fade 04-26-2007 01:14 PM

love the classics but I'd have to say Ronin and The Transporter have two of the best car chase scenes I've seen

DWB 04-26-2007 01:14 PM

Back when fast cars were cool.

Dukes of Hazzard, BJ and the Bear, Hooper, Smoket and The Bandit... and so on.

LOL Love that chase scene

so many crashed cop cars

DomP_nl 04-26-2007 01:43 PM

I always loved the clip with a Ferrari 275 GTB ? the car is driven by an anonymous driver at breakneck speed through the streets of Paris just after dawn, for a romantic "rendez-vous" at Basilica of the Sacré C?ur. check it out, u get to see Paris in a way u never seen it before.....

That was the first movie that I thought of when I read the thread. Smokey and the Bandit was pretty awesome, but the Blues Brothers made history.

Michaelious 04-26-2007 01:51 PM

Yeah you can't beat 1980s chase movies.

BVF 04-26-2007 01:53 PM

Bullet had a good one...In fact, that was the only good thing about that movie

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 04-26-2007 02:16 PM

Surprised nobody mentioned Vanishing Point yet...

Several car chase clips from Vanishing Point, including the finale, on YouTube.

The Blues Brothers is the ultimate car chase, running from the law, chaos classic. :thumbsup

I'm ashamed.

Nismo 04-26-2007 03:26 PM

gone in 60 seconds?

Mickey_ 04-26-2007 03:30 PM

Will have to catch up on oldschool car chase movies. Haven't seen the ones you mentioned. The 70's was a great era as far as movies were concerned.

Two Lane Blacktop
Gone In 60 Seconds (I loved the slam of the remake in Grindhouse, hehe)

Actually that movie used a Mercedes 450SEL with the sound of a Ferrari dubbed in, and it never went faster than 85mph.

true, its one of the few where the driving really feels fast, and the lil crashes look very real

RawAlex 04-27-2007 10:19 AM

The original gone in 60 seconds is classic stuff, some of it filmed on the streets without permits and with the traffic being blocked, which is great.

Blues Brothers is pretty much the best, more destruction in less time than anything out there.

Modern movies may have tons of cgi and shit to make them look hot, but real true stunt man driven car chases are just the best.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 04-27-2007 10:24 AM

The Mini Cooper chase in The Italian Job (both 1969 and 2003 versions) deserves honorable mention... :1orglaugh

As for all car type movies I always liked "The Gumball Rally".

"It's a hilarious coast-to-coast, 180 mile-an-hour, go-for-broke, outrageous road race with the world's most expensive cars. And it's all just for glory and a gumball machine."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074597/

"Canonball Run" type movie. Oldie but a goodie.

LiveDose 04-27-2007 10:59 AM

I have to go with Blues Brothers.

"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."
