Should adult media companies submit a proposal to each advertiser listing how exactly the mag will show a ROI so the customer knows how much money they are expected to make back from each onsertion

mags generally charge for ad space by circulation is my thought. how can they guarantee ROI?. . I sell you cologne, I guarantee how much pussy yer gonna get?
|
That's quite a difficult thing to gauge though, unless they can track every single lead they send to the advertiser and the advertiser reports results back to them. And even then they could only come up with a rough estimate of how well any arbitrary ad would do, since it depends on the creative used, the advertised product, the duration and period during which the campaign is run and so on.
|
I don't see how they would be able to estimate an ROI and my guess is that they would just make the numbers up anyways. I don't really see how such an estimation would be of any benefit to either party.

I would guess that most print media publications cannot guarantee anything besides circulation #'s and subscribers. I suppose it may be compared to a banner spot, some do much better than others, get more clicks and signups and the only thing the site owner can guarantee is average pageviews, uniques, etc. Perhaps the advertiser can reference that particular ad with a 'reference #', a special for that ad or some other method of tracking which they can in-turn share with the publisher?

i made this post casue i agree with most of yoou but someone i gave proposal too on a idea was thingy crazy shit like this.....

Again, to repeat what others have said. ROI has many factors (not all of which have to do with the magazine itself). A lot has to do w/ the advertisers product and ad campaign. This can statistically be estimated by niche and the magazine can handle the ad campaign to try to take the guess work out of it....but even so, its impossible to actually track real world customers UNLESS you can do one of the following:
1) Use a promo code on your product linking back to a 'real world' ad source 2) Use a special 1800# and/or URL for an ad campaign 3) Ask customers how they found you and get a high response (and assume that they answered accurately) Unless they start making magazines with interactive LCD's in them (like penny on inspector gadget had)...I just dont see a truly accurate way of doing it. :2 cents: |
|
In my case, the best thing to show them is stats and lots of it... Readership, age group, conversion rates from past issues, etc... The more the better. Just like people do with websites.
