Ha yeah but seriously since i been listening and discovering more of mr. Cash I think the way he performs it is fantastic and it is a great song.

Pound for Pound I think Cash takes it over Elvis :thumbsup

Meeper 04-25-2007 04:27 PM

Johnny Cash IMO

Miss Munki 04-25-2007 04:59 PM

Cash for sure, Ring of Fire is my favorite

Fap 04-25-2007 05:07 PM

Cash, hands down

MikeVega 04-25-2007 05:11 PM

I'm a Cash man .. I just feel he was true to himself. always wrote what he felt regardless of what the label thought and if it would be a hit. don't get me wrong it's a biz and everyone wants hits but I always thought Elvis was more of a product. Maybe i just haven't listened to him enough.

DeanCapture 04-25-2007 05:14 PM

I was raised in Memphis (home of Elvis) and my mom was a HUGE Elvis fan so that's all I heard when I was growing up. I don't own any Elvis records now but when I hear an Elvis song....it reminds me of my childhood and of my mother so I'd have to say Elvis for me :thumbsup

Jman 04-25-2007 05:14 PM

Damn Can we say Cash by Knock Out!!!

No Elvis fans on GFY?

Sorry Dean, posted at the same time I guess :winkwink:

J. Falcon 04-25-2007 05:19 PM

Even though I love Cash, it's Elvis without a doubt.

evildick 04-25-2007 05:21 PM

Cash is something you can actually listen to now and still have it seem relevant today. Listening to Elvis is more like taking a step back in time... you seem to know you are listening to oldies.

I guess that is in part due to the fact he was still releasing new music as late as last year, even after he died, but even his old stuff still seems more listenable than anything Elvis ever did.

Folsom Prison Blues, Ring of Fire, Ghost riders in the sky and Cocaine Blues are probably my favorite song he did. Of course I liked Hurt but it was a cover.

Another great song he did was as part of the Highwaymen.. song titled Highwayman.

Andiz 04-25-2007 05:41 PM

This is a really tough one......depends on my mood which one I'd choose. But they are both great imho

Cash 04-25-2007 10:24 PM

You gotta be kidding with Johnny Cash vs. Elvis ... ask anyone in the US and in the world, everyone knows about Elvis and even some of his songs, just a few heard about Johnny Cash and probably none of his songs...

i love johnny cash:thumbsup

Sarah_Jayne 04-26-2007 07:08 AM

Elvis couldn't hold a candle to Cash's talent..as a song writer alone let alone a singer.

Just because he might be more popular doesn't make his music better.

Garth Brooks has sold more albums in the US than Elvis has, yet I would probably use one of his CDs as a drink coaster before I would put it in my CD player.

Cash 04-26-2007 08:09 AM

Elvis can only be compared to the Beatles, I mean in terms of popularity, etc.

SxDx 04-26-2007 08:24 AM

can't go wrong with either, but i would say that johnny's music speaks to me more

King Adam 04-26-2007 08:36 AM

Johnny Cash is my choice.

shoeaholicanon 04-26-2007 08:37 AM

I am really not a fan of Cash. Elvis all the way!

lulu36 04-26-2007 08:37 AM

the man in black for sure:thumbsup

Martin 04-26-2007 08:49 AM

JC for me.

Sarah_Jayne 04-26-2007 08:50 AM

It is like comparing a boy band who does nothing but covers to a singer song writer

cherrylula 04-26-2007 08:51 AM

Did you know that Elvis is only the "King of Rock and Roll" because he TRADEMARKED it? :1orglaugh

Nobody can call themselves the King because they will get sued. And that's all there is to Elvis. A trademark.

SykkBoy 04-26-2007 09:34 AM

Definitely, the Man In Black
He could take any song and make it his own...look at his covers: Sunday Morning Coming Down, Hurt, even A Boy Named Sue and he made them his own.

He wasn't overly fancy and didn't do complex arrangements, but he just played his heart out....plus he recorded "Thirteen", a song Glen Danzig wrote...and I couldn't imagine anyone else singing it the way he did....
