ANZAC Day....
Just a late thread to commemorate ANZAC day in Australia. Show your support for the diggas here...:thumbsup

ANZAC was the name given to the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers who landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey early on the morning of 25 April 1915 during the First World War (1914-1918). As a result, one day in the year has involved the whole of Australia in solemn ceremonies of remembrance, gratitude and national pride for all our men and women who have fought and died in all wars. That day is ANZAC Day -- 25 April. Every nation must, sooner or later, come for the first time to a supreme test of quality; and the result of that test will hearten or dishearten those who come afterwards. For the fledgling nation of Australia that first supreme test was at Gallipoli. http://www.alexanderfaxbooks.com.au/...ZAC%20DAY3.jpg http://www.samizdata.net/~pdeh/ACMFbadge.gif http://www.samizdata.net/~pdeh/ANZACs%20in%20Turkey.jpg http://www.rslnsw.com.au/uploads/Anzac%20Poem%202.JPG http://www.anzacday.co.uk/images/anzacsoldier.jpg http://content.answers.com/main/cont...0px-Anzac1.JPG http://joannejacobs.net/digistills/edjones.jpg http://www.defence.gov.au/anzacday/i...142_037_lo.jpg    |
Went to this morning's service. It's always great to see those who served our country. Seems there's fewer and fewer every year.
Lest we forget. |
The Anzac spirit lives on! :thumbsup

We've got a son at the pointy end - the fourth generation to have served - we never forget.
