TheHun how worried should I be?
 

I just got a Gallery on TheHun. It was the second one I have made,ever. How worried should I be about my crappy 1and1 server?

you will receive about 80-120000 people the first day then pretty intense for 3 days. Conversions are all over depending on your click thru :)

But first let me rant just a bit . I do not know if I have earned ranting rights here or not but I will do it any way. 1and1.com sucks the sweat off a dead man's balls. Deep in my heart I always knew the the completely suck, I just put off getting a real host. I even called them last night to make sure my server could handle it, sure they said. So I wake up this morning and every thing is hunky dory, then I notice all the hit just stop coming. I Look at my site and there is nothing but a bullshit 403 error. Call them up and they say we will have it fixed in 24 hours Big help there. I am pretty sure the tech support in India did not even have computers, just cups and strings. So I have no other recourse but be very irritating. I have a talent for that. I am sure the in some small village out side mumbi buch no help cretin jack asses are burring me in effigy as I write this. After them changing there story about twelve time. The send me a douchbag email with their T&C saying my content violates their rules,which it does not, and turn my site back on(contradicting them selves). Now were did it mention how they over sold the server. The they send a form about how well my needs were met. You can geuss how I filled that out.

In any case I sent a email from my phone to hosthead and the had my very own sever set up in side 45 min. I love thoose guys. Thanks brad.

Sorry about the rant. The hun converted at about 1:2500. I have been at 1:100 before,but I do niche stuff and I do not have much content yet(This was for my clips4sale store) so I can not complain. I was still kinda cool being on the first site I used to get my porn about ten years ago. I case I forgot to mention 1and1 could not suck any more.

I only hope it's not a video gallery :helpme...

Is the any other kind? Each clip was download about 7000 times even with 5 hours of crappy suckhead 1and1 down time. Did I mention 1and1 sucks?

i had a horrible experience on thehun. several of my galleries got hammered over a 3 day period and i got slammed with a $2,800 bandwidth overage charge for the month! needless to say, i didn't make $2,800 off the submit. i don't have the exact numbers now but i made approximately $500 in membership sales.

Not a dig at you dude, but you get what you pay for. I have used 1and1 for quite a while and I know that it can't handle heavy traffic loads, regardless of what the 1and1 dumbasses say on the phone.

You arent the first person to have their 1and1 account suspended because of The Hun heh

yes, this happened a few months ago. i went 4308gigs over my allocated plan at 65 cents per gig over. i should have capped it off. oh well, live and learn....

I have never found TheHun to be worth the trouble. Conversion from their free porn hound traffic is worse than terrible. I used a free host, and I'm very glad I did. I don't remember exactly how many sales I made off the exposure... maybe a half dozen at the most. But, it wouldn't have amounted to enough money to absorb the bandwidth charges had I been paying for it.

What's so good about TheHun? I've seen several post on GFY and other boards about how they are so good. Personally, to me the site looks pretty shitty. At first glance there's is nothing that would make me beat off on that site. I hate reading text and would rather go to a site with thumbnails...even if they skim 50%.

Granted, somehow despite the lack of "bling" on the site they have managed to generate an impressive Alexa rating.

Bottom line is this....let's not treat getting listed on TheHun like you found the Holy Grail.

Nice! As for other folks dissing the Hun for being shitty looking and such-- this is true. However, getting on the hun does get you some decent free exposure. You may not convert from there, but a lot of times surfers will go off looking at your site (or for more promo content) if they really like it That's the idea.

This also brings up a good point and that's to always cap your bandwidth. Not capping means your host is counting on things to spill over one day so he/she can charge you overage costs. Not fun. I had a really shitty host back in the day InternetConnection.net (or as I call them InterShitConnection.net) and the douchebags tried to charge me overages nearly 6 months AFTER the fact. "Oh our script that calculates them wasn't running." I ended up getting a giant 3K bill of accumulated costs over several months. I told them that A) not telling me their shit wasn't calculating costs was unacceptable and B) trying to stick me with a fat overage bill 6 months after the fact was bad business. They didn't give a fuck. They wanted their goddamn money. Fuckers. They got it, but not without the cost of turning me into a bitter former customer. Their service sucked, too, while I'm at it.

well for starters, its an old school site, and it gets more traffic then LA rush hour, and its good traffic, because if you notice, they don't skim or have any links to outside tgp's and shit, its all great traffic, plus nobody goes to a site to beat off to pretty graphics, thats why its bland

Does anyone know of any similar sites to TheHun? Ones that are easier to get listed on perhaps?
