FreeEzineBucks: 1:19370!! What fuck?

One of my employees accidently deleted an entire domain of mine with 1000's of old galleries and toplist sites. My 404 traffic is redirected now to freeezinebucks, but it converts at 1:19370....

My guess is that the Jesus HitBot is spreading around, no shit. No wonder conversions suck everyday more with certain traffic sources.

Btw. Did I mention that I have 404 traffic for sale???

Dude, my error traffic converts at 1:20 with FEB. It's all in how you sell it. Most of their ads are shit.

Two thoughts:

1) 1:19370 and you can't come up with a plan to greatly improve your conversion ratio? I bet you can. Just try.

2) Hope your employee busts out e-mails to all the TGPs that archive the links he accidently deleted. People get blacklisted for doing that. If I had a report from my admin script's bot that a shitload of links were now going to FEB, I'd be kinda pissed.

Do you send the error traffic directly to an FEB link or do you "filter" it, maybe using some sort of FPA?

If you filter it, do you keep track of how many visitors do not click through?

Kinda reflects badly on the quality of your traffic. You may want to keep experimenting with your ad layout and text choice. Usually FEB converts very well.

I send them to a half-page ad with some accompanying text. It's a page that is only fed by error traffic from 15 domains.

No, I don't keep track of how many people don't click thru but compared to my overall traffic it seems like a reasonable amount so I've never actually looked into it.

Just sell 'em on the fact that it's free. Surfers love that shit. Especially those with no credit card.

Ratios with FEB have been sliding downwards month after month after month. Tinker with the ad for a day or two and if you can't get any sales then find a new sponsor.

Maybe setup a full page ad and the surfer can pick the niche they want.
If they close the page, send the surfer to something else.

thanx, for the replys, guys, some more info:

-i send it directly to feb.
-before, i sent the traffic to one of my free avs hubs (fnp, sk, sexy avs,..) - no one sale
-i believe i just get hitbot hits
-with another feb acount i get a 1:[40-60] ratio (toplist traff)

btw. i dont care about getting blacklisted, i wont use this domain for tgp/ll anymore, as it is fucked up. I already have 50 avs sites on there.

do you really think there are a lot tgps/ll out there sending fake hits??? whaz their point?? i dont want their traffic, i want the se-spiders. ;))

Fuck F.E.B... I sadly just figured that out last week.

Try collecting your own email addresses....
You know that if F.E.B. pays you $1 for each address.. its gotta be worth more than that.

You probably know where to get a script for this..
If not try www.mogulemail.com . Its a good free one.

Terenzo 08-18-2002 12:06 AM

... actually, i decided to send the traffic directly to feb to see if it is fake traffic, sorry, but i guess even with redirected traffic feb should convert at 1:500!!! if someone isn't signing up there, he already has a bunch of AVS and Paysite passes or he wont signup anywhere.

I will send some exit traffic, now, which i know it's real traffic. see how it will convert.

LiveDose 08-18-2002 12:10 AM

did you fire his ass?

LiveDose 08-18-2002 12:13 AM

They may also think that the tgps are b/l them and just hit the back button.

That's what i thought to have figured out as well (collecting my own e-mails), so i started it 1.5 years ago, now i have a few thousand addresses, but i am just too lazy to use them and i just dont feel confortable to send them emails, as i hate this myself.

so i started to use join4free, where i was kinda late and had bad ratios. i was promoting feb from the beginning when boss opened it to the public and it is easier money than doing my own e-mails. today i think: let the e-mail pros do the e-mail thing.

When people see not what they were looking for, they often press the back button. It counts hits, not "people read this page".
Another thing to consider is that people sign-up and may check their email a few hours or even a day later to confirm, so you may not see sign-ups right away. Many mainstream sponsors show sign-ups and confirmations.

Joe Sixpack, if you don't mind, I would like to see that page.
