Wordpress One Click Upgrades....new plugin
hey all, for those of you that don't know, there is a one click upgrade plugin for wordpress
takes about 10 minutes to install, requires some ftping in and chmod access, but WELL worth it http://www.zirona.com/software/wordp...nstant-upgrade you go in and chmod all the core files to 777, then click to upgrade, and when you do that it takes over the files and chmods them back to normal, so the files don't stay at 777, and upgrades to whatever the most stable wordpress version is... I use it on all my blogs and have never had any issues |
awesome Jace!

|
awesome this will be a big time saver in the long run
|
What I don't get is this: I have had no issues upgrading any wordpress site I have. It takes about 5 minutes. The only thing that is special for me is that i don't use 101 wonky plugins or add-ons.
Every wordpress upgrade (and holy fuck have there ever been enough of those) has been totally pain free and without issue (knock wood). |

Jace, don't you have to first log in and set all the files to 777?

but once you do it the first time then the plugin runs and attaches itself to every file and chmod's it again back to what it needs to be the chmod to 777 is a one time thing while installing |

Did you notice the same? Also I noticed his download files are all messed up. I tried to D/L the zip file and it only had a single file in it. So I downloaded the tar file which seemed to have all the files. However it didn't include the "work" folder. So just out of a hunch I made a folder in the wp-content/plugins/instantupgrade/ dir and chmod it to 777 and the upgrade worked fine. So the plug in seems to work fine but he should re-check his files and instructions because they are a bit incomplete. Other than that it seems to work like a charm. |
btw even with the issues I had I don't think it took me 10 mins to install and run the script.

3 minutes to install x 20 blogs = an hour
vs alot more time upgrading manually...thanks jace |
What does it upgrade? Upgrade to the 2.1.3 or what?
