Who invented the TGP? I am just curious. While I am at it what was the first major adult site on the web?

Not sure so I wont post and look silly, but I have a few ideas, wait for the older guys to show...

It's not PK, she was one of the first link lists but didn't have a TGP until a couple years ago.

How about the first adult site to charge surfers money for a password to access the content.

Adult Buffet started it, the other sites were linking to indexes, then they gradually integrated thumb galleries. Once the surfers saw the thumbs galleries, indexes didnt last long.

At least he invented gallery spamming.

The most Legendary gallery was posted on the Hun by a guy called Firebat.

The first Amateur Site who charged money was either http://www.carolcox.com or http://www.jen-dave.com
I found Jen and Dave in 1996. We started our paysite in September 96 and there were already some larger paysites around, like Cyber babes.. but on the Amateur site I have to go with either Carol or Jen. I think they are both in 95..

the first webmaster affiliate program, was Amateur Hardcore by Al HAdhazy.... i think there has been some argument that cybererotica was first, and i think FM even proved it, but i dont know... i remember AH was my first sponsor in 1996...

The Firebat gallery truely a legend!
People still talk about it! Once in a while it comes up and is discussed in detail! I never saw it but I´ve heard so much about it!

I was looking through the thread briefly. Is the gallery a legend because of the thread? Or something else?

I was checking it out too, it looked like 99% of the thread was about making the longest thread in history not firebats gallery. I couldnt find the URL to the gallery anywhere.

My guess would be adult buffet.

The funny thing is at the time people didnt realize how poorly it converted.

A little after serge figured out that TGP traffic didnt convert very well and expelled all TGP traffic from his program. My memory is a bit foggy, but I think I first heard on sharky live.

That gallery is 4 years old and i guess long gone.
So is Firebat. It is a legend because it spawned that thread and it keeps popping up periodically. I hope you guys werent expecting some free secret to successful galleries, because the Leader charges $140.00 an hour for consulting services.

Might be able to answer this question.

Originally, pix on html pages with banners and 8 or 10 thumbs on a gallery were pretty much accepted. As the idea beacame popular, submissions started to go up, free hosts popped up, free content beacame available. Everybody was posting galleries.
So, the TGP owners tightened the rules. The .html pages with pix were no longer accepted. They were too easy to redirect to a Paysite or even a CP site. The number of thumbs was raised to 10, 12, 15 and more. The number of outlinks was reduced, but the galleries still poured in. Auto submitters got popular. Some TGP guys went to the 1 gallery every 3 or 4 days method, other wanted a link to one of their sponsors, other expect a few bucks in their pocket, every guy deals with it differently.

It was an evolution over time, based on popular concept with the surfer and an easy, cheap way to get traffic for the gallery webmaster.

I remember hearing something about wetlands getting sued by ducks unlimited concerning the name. Anyone know anything about that?

back in the early TGP days the smartest guy I knew circle jerked the traffic and fed it by pop-up into the third largest MP3 sites out there. There was 'stupid money' to be made in an MP3 site via banner ads - amounts that would make even the big site boys of today sit up and be amazed. Probally why this guy is still referred to by almost everyone (who knows anything) as 'Legondary Lars'

To give you an idea he got sued for 10 million by sony and it didn't really hurt him all that much.
