it's going to be 4.4 km long, with the the maximum height being 415 m (almost 1400 feet) about the valley floor. only 4 towers, 51 million dollars to install. longest unsupported ski lift span in the world (over 3 km). i'm stoked, it will make it feasible to ride both mountains in a single day, rather that choosing a single one.

That's awesome .. There's several great runs on each mountain and it was always a pain to pick one or the other.

BJ 04-19-2007 04:55 PM

Crazy. Whistler is the best mountain I've ever been to.

LiveDose 04-19-2007 04:57 PM

I can't wait to get up there someday!

$tandaman 04-19-2007 06:30 PM

Looks awesome.

Spunky 04-19-2007 07:48 PM

Pretty damn sweet indeed..is it supposed to be finished by 2010?

Kevsh 04-19-2007 10:35 PM

About 10 years ago I was riding on the lift on Blackcomb, it stopped and our cart dropped a few feet. We were maybe 25-30 feet up - scary shit. After that I think I'll just walk peak to peak :)

Bdiddy 04-19-2007 10:40 PM

I miss that place :(

SleazyDream 04-19-2007 10:57 PM

That kicks ass... I grew up riding at Whistler and yes that was always the big fight in the morning when we got there, choosing which mountain :1orglaugh

i've been in crazy windstorms on the Whistler gondola, where they keep shutting it down due to wind, and the doors blow open. that happened a couple of times this year. a little freaky, but you get used to it.

yep, exactly. and since i live at the base of creekside, it will be much, much quicker to get over to the top of Blackcomb than it is right now.

gornyhuy 04-20-2007 01:06 PM

Holy hell... thats a lot of air under you.

xApster 04-20-2007 01:13 PM

I am so pumped for that ... I have said that should have done that for years. Just got back from Heli skiing up there and I never want to go on a chairlift again tho lol

EURBottomLine 04-20-2007 01:14 PM
