Do you eat Kimchi? (pic)

BTW, Phoenix get ready for me, May is right around the corner! :)

It's called Shizen. It is right on las olas. You would think with Los Olas being such the tourist trap kimchi would be the last thing you'd find. You just have to ask and they will sell you as much as you like.

It's good stuff and very healthy for you too!

NinjaSteve 04-19-2007 11:07 AM

Kimchi is awesome! I eat it about 3 times a week.

grumpy 04-19-2007 11:08 AM

Jimmy Rock 04-19-2007 11:11 AM

Facts about Kimchi:

1. Kimchi is ready to eat right from its container all year round. Its firm, tender, crisp texture and its zesy, fully refreshing taste makes an exotic popularity. For kimchi eaters, there is not other food that can attain the same appeal as kimchi.

2. Kimchi satisfies the appetite and is also a perfect relish which enhances the taste of other food: it has 42 mg of vitamin C per 10g, which is more than half of the US government's recommended daily allowance. It is fascinating to note that when captain James Cook set sail in the 1770's, he served his seamen a daily portion of fermented, cured cabbage to prevent scurvy, which is now known to be the result of vitamin C deficiency.

3. Kimchi is high in fiber, a food component usually too low in the average American diet. Fiber also add the bulk necessary for proper digestion.

4. Kimchi is rich in minerals and vitamins and is an essential source of thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), calcium and iron, all of which are essential components for human health.

5. Kimchi is surprisingly low in calories for a food of such nutritional value, with only 33 calories per cup (less than 15 cal/100g). Hence, it provides a great way to lose weight or just keep it off. Kimchi is versatile, and its low cost and east of serving are among the reasons for its popularity.

6. Kimchi has finally achieved its long-cherished desire of meeting global demand in handy safe containers.

Kiwigirl 04-19-2007 11:14 AM

Last time I was in Seattle, there was a really good spot. I believe it was on Broadway, but I could be wrong. They have mushrooms there you know.

Michaelious 04-19-2007 01:36 PM

No, but it looks really terrible.

Strickie 04-19-2007 01:41 PM

i've never heard of it, but i'm willing to give it a shot.

CunningStunt 04-19-2007 05:05 PM

It's delicious. Usually made from cabbage (fermented - soaked a long time in brine), chilli powder, garlic, ginger, and sometimes prawn paste.

makes you fart lots and breath smell, but worth it.

OG LennyT 04-19-2007 05:09 PM

The Koreans bury cabbage in pots for months and that's how kimchi is made

Hmm, I got scurvy from a chick once. I swore I'd never fuck her again.

She had some good pussy though.

Maybe I can take her out for some Kimchi before sex or something... :winkwink:

seanchai 04-19-2007 08:46 PM

Living in Hawaii it's almost a daily food. They've found other ways to incorporate it like kimchi fried rice, kimchi tofu stew and the legendary, Chicken Alice - a Korean lady who made her fried chicken batter with ... chopped up kimchi.
