Can you solve a Rubik's Cube?
 

It's been years since I toyed with one of these things.....

I picked one up 4 days ago and started studying it. At this point I can solve about 3/4 of it in under 5 minutes but the last 1/4 or so takes me another 10 to 15 minutes as it seems way more complex than the first part.

Anyway...I just timed myself at 14:47 and my goal is to get down to 60 seconds then 30.

How many people here can solve it in the first place and how fast can you do it?

The only way I could solve it in a minute would be to pop the pieces off and rebuild it the correct way, ha ha ha.

That or the stickers.

when i was a kid i use to peel the stickers off and replace it to solve it when I got frustrated. LOL

I can do it in less than 5 minutes. Mrs. RedShoe can do it in less than 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Aaron, do you do it in layers? Like the bottom layer, then the middle layer then the top? I heard the super fast guys do it by solving 2 sides at the same time.

I could do it in less than a minute and a half every time when i was in 8th grade.

My friends little brother is autistic, but not as bad as rainman. He can do it in about 16 seconds.

Did all the time as a kid.

Haven't picked up one in probably 20 years though.

Top, middle, flip over and do the bottom.

There is a french dude who did it one handed in 10.36 seconds.

When I was a kid, I saw a magician throw one up in the air (unfinished) and when he caught it, it was finished...I obviously now know it was a trick but back then, I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen

I can't even do a slinky :)

Practice make perfect....I just took 2.5 minutes off the first 3/4....

doing the first 3/4 is like saying you hit 3 numbers on the lotto :1orglaugh

How exactly do you do 3/4's of a cube with 6 sides and 54 squares?

I haven't done it in years either, but used to be no problem. The secret to doing it quickly is looking for specific patterns at specific points. After you manipulate the cube in to the first patterns from being totally scrambled, it's just memorization after that.

Solved. Getting better by the minute. :)

when i was young it took me about 60 to 70 seconds

we had a guy in the neighbourclass, fixing the cube in 30 seconds
he got a number one page pic in the newspaper+ tv shows...

The Best Way is to buy it..........and DON'T FUCK WITH IT.........(lol)

Already saw it on a different site. It seems simple but you can easily get lost with that video.

Best time so far is just over 6 mins.

I'm a sticker peeler, I must admit.

I used to be able to when I was 14..havent seen one of those for years.

I've never been particularly fast, but they're pretty easy to solve if you have\know a system.

Oh the memories of the cube. I was really good at the Pyramid one when I was little. It's funny you bring up the cube. I was just thinking about getting another cube and trying it out again and here you are Aaron playing with one. Great minds think a like. hehe I think I will get one and test myself as well. :winkwink:

But once I complete the cube, what side is the answer, the red side or the blue side?!? Or maybe it was yellow?!? I can't remember. :disgust
