For those of you that missed this, 3Xguru is IFRAMING http://www.elitesexsites.com/banner.html in his sig. Just awhile ago, that page had popups on exit. Result- when you'd read anything he'd posted in and used your back button to return to the board, you got hit with three extra windows with his spam on it.

I didn't see it, but if it is true, that is just not cool. Sure, part of why most of us are here is to get some exposure for our programs, but you can't take it too far. It's bad enough to trick the users-- to trick each other is just dumb.

Yes there was a problem with my site as i was working on the HTACCESS file(see this tread). i'm not good at is so I guess I did something wrong. Some people told me that there were popups, but I have never intended that. I can't understand how that happened.
Anyone can make a mistake, but from here to being attacked with such words on the board it is a long way.

Your signature was opening popup windows. It was a mistake on your part, but you quickly fixed the problem, so no harm was done.

But this has nothing to do with marketing my site.
All I have been trying to do was to redirect some of the junk traffic comming to my site to a sponsor. I did nothing to my sig. I have only modified the htaccess file.

Then i came back to the board to see the code again, and immagine my surprise when fiveyes wrote this thread.

That's not right and I hope you agree with me!

I didn't expect what certainly appeared to be spam popups here. I got 'em in my face, I reacted. Hearing what was the cause of the problem, I see I overreacted, and I do apologize for speaking out as strongly as I did. It just happens to be a subject I feel strongly about.

But, your sig is yours. It's like your pet- it not only follows you around, it reflects it's master.

These things happen. The amazing thing is, everyone admitted their mistakes. You don't see that a lot around here. Kudos to both of you, and sorry for jumping in myself.

I agree, the title was out of line and uncalled for. I didn't know the circumstances at the moment, went by appearances and the words solely represented a knee jerk reaction.

I think the correct description is this... He had three popups meant for viewers of his site, and he accidentally made them hit webmasters on this board, too. Pretty big screwup, but not as bad as being dumb enough to put popups in his sig thinking it would work.

I'm sick and fuckin' tired of this thread, but i guess I have to explain:

I have never used a popup script. Not on my banner nor on my site. All I intended was to redirect traffic from one url to a sponsor(without popping a new window). There was no popup involved. I still do not understant why there were windows popping up.

Fiveyes mentioned something about 3 windows popping up. My only explanation is that there might have been 3 messages of mine on that page with 3 sigs and that's why there were those windows popping. I'm not good at using HTACCESS so I cannot give you another posible explanation.


Once again: Do you think I would be that stupid to use 3 popups on a page! Think about it before reacting.
