How much did you win? The loser in that situation usually wins more money, 50% of the bonus. 25% to the winner of the hand and the table chops the rest. At least that's how it works up here.

Well... with 3 community aces... especially if there was a lot of money in the pot pre-flop or something, you gotta figure it's more than just possible someone's got the 4th in their hole.

Still, I feel ya, man.

If it weren't for hands like that, people who know how to play cards would never go out. :)

Not all places have jackpots.

Online, I'd agree.

Live, I'd risk pocket J's with three A's on the flop every time (betting patterns etc. not taken into consideration of course).

I don't play online... only live.

What accounts for the difference in how you'd bet, taking away betting pattern/tell factors?

Besides what you mentioned, position and pot odds to name two...neither of which would have played a factor in my decision to play pocket J's anytime with 3 A's flopped.

Online, betting pattern MAY have played a factor, although doubtful. Tells are nonexistent.

Live, in order of importance...cards, tells-betting pattern-position (those three can go hand in hand), and pot odds. You constantly hear play the man, not the cards. Yeah, that's great. Online, again, not possible. Even live, I'll take great cards over having tells on everyone at the table everytime. Tells can be misread or intentionally misrepresented. Cards ultimately can't. The best players in the world can't win a tournament being dealt rags ALL day. They'll win some pots sure, but eventually better cards will get them.

yea it was A A 2 A 8 on the board...

I had A 10

he had J J

and that was that!

eroswebmaster 04-14-2007 10:21 AM

Badbeat jackpots...jackpots of any kind are for suckers...you just won YOUR MONEY...hell they already take a rake...their charge for services...they then take another $1 or $2 so you can try to win it back by hitting long shots?

Not to mention, that money doesn't always make its way back into the poker community...here in Vegas some retarded midwesterner on his one and only trip gets lucky wins $10K bye bye! never to come back again

well that not a real bad beat mate.

He is nicely ahead preflop but you are not gone in any way.
You will win that hand 28% of the time, so it happens all the time.

And sorry but that can just not be seen as a bad beat.

It would be a suckout if you were all in preflop. If you were that, you play like shit :)

One A were enough there, the two extra just make that hand look a bit funnier.

A real bad beat is JJJJ beaten by Straight flush :)
but that don't happen every day.

Sure it is...

Casinos/Detroit casinos count AAAJJ or better, beaten....a bad beat....doesn't matter how.
