Who has an Oreck?

My new Oreck XL21 came in first of the week - it's a sweet ass vacuum cleaner. 21 year warranty, amazing sucking power, light as a feather and a no-interest payment plan. Anybody else got one of these babies?

Never seen or heard of them before, but looks very unusual.

We still have our trusty old Dyson... :upsidedow

candyflip 04-13-2007 04:25 PM

We've got a few Dysons. I tried to find something better for my shop and ended up with yet another Dyson.

Do you feel all weird inside getting excited over a Vacuum? I know I do. :1orglaugh

beemk 04-13-2007 04:27 PM

I'm curious now too, as he mentioned no-interest financing. Must be one heck of a vacuum.

Yea - I kinda do. But I'm single and if I don't do the vacuuming...nobody will! My allergies have been acting up a bit lately and someone told me that there are a lot of allergens in the carpet so I went in search of the best vacuum cleaner that I could find. The Oreck website had a lot to say about allergens and hypo-allergenic filtration and this is one of the best that they make - so I thought I'd give it a try. Was just curious if anyone else has one.

I LOVED my dyson... Bummer I left it behind. I will buy another one though cause it is just that awsome!

I love my Dysons. They never lose suction. I wish my girlfriend could make that same guarantee.

Very nice.

We got a package today and I opened it up expecting to see sunglasses, but it was some kind of Oreck product. It looked like an iron from the owners manual, but after looking at the Oreck website, it had to be something else. Anyhow, we noticed that it was addressed to some neighbor right up our road, so TA walked up and put it on their porch.

Since the Dyson has no bag - how to you empty out the dirt? I was told that when you empty out the dirt, some of the dust get's back into the air. That didn't sound like a good design so I passed on the Dyson.

They have some kind of promotion where if you buy the vacuum, you can send off for this free steamer/iron combo thingy. That's probably what that was.

Belinda 04-13-2007 04:36 PM

I take it straight out to the trash cans outside to dump it then it doesn't get back inside but I can see that as being an issue. I loved it cause I sucked out all the old fireplace coals with it and ashes and nothing got stuck and it didn't loose suction at all. The whole thing basically comes apart if you do get something stuck.

Some! LOL :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh
SOME?!?!?!?! !?!?! TRY ALL!!

The only way to properly change a bagless system is to drive the canister to an open empty field. Plug your nose or wear a respirator and dump it out... DOWN WIND of course. (had to learn that one the hardway)

as you pull the bag out of the oreck it seals the hole... hardly any dust if any gets out at all... orecks are great but they need the servicing they do offer, i think you get like 3 years of one 2 services per year, and they need it.. but they work great when being serviced properly

Mine gets a free tune up each year for 21 years - it's guaranteed for 21 years. From what I understand, you have to take it in once a year for servicing or your warranty is void.

How quite is that machine? I've read some reviews on some of the more popular air purifiers and some of them are quite noisy.

OG LennyT 04-13-2007 05:32 PM

Yeah, I bought an Oreck XL - 5 yr warrantee (have already replaced the motor)

Nice machine, made in the USA, but not really worth the $400 or so I paid for it...

It did come with a sweet ass cordless clothes iron
