generators(power) ....help me.

i am in the market for a good sized generator for my parents ( they are foster parents for mentally challenged children ) anyone got a good connection in getting these ? Will need something that can handle a decent amount of power ( 2 oxygen machines plus 2 pulse ox machines )

let me know

back story :
they have kids on oxygen n such and when the power goes out down here in texas ( storm season sucks ) they have to use portable oxygen tanks and they run out quick and we are only allowed 4 bottles per child every 6 months and the other night we had the power go out at my folks house and we ended up using up pretty much all the bottles so if the power goes out again before we get new tanks in a few months we will have to call for an ambulance and put the kids in a hospital tell the power gets turned back on and burden the medical system with more expenses

Dont get anything other than a Honda.

They are super reliable and QUIET.

You will pay about 2X as much, but I wouldnt buy anything else.

Yes.. if you getting gas buy a Honda. Although - if they need reliable and cheap to operate on an ongoing basis they really should get a diesel powered generator not gas... and no they are not cheap. SDMO is the best brand IMHO....

I plan on adding auto starting generators powered by natural gas, or diesel in the next 2 years. I like to know Ill have power no matter what happens.

heh, get a CAT generator. Noisy and ultra reliable. :)

Add up the total load of the appliances you want to run then add 25%. That will tell you what size to get. Most motorhomes come with a 5 Kilowatt, just for reference. I probably wouldn't get one smaller than that, unless you are looking at something portable.

I have a Briggs and Stratton propane, auto on, full house:

Kicked in for 3 hours this AM when the power was out :)

I had a Honda before, but DAMN it was loud. It was a hand start though - ran on gasoline.
