3 days until US Taxes are due. Are you done?

I am heading over to my accountants to file an extension, no surprise there. Just delaying the inevitable payment :disgust

Was anyone a good US citizen and get their done before the deadline?

The good news is... only hours away from Tera Patrick appearing live on IMLIve and it's free, I won't miss that deadline :winkwink:

Wizzo 04-12-2007 09:25 AM

surprisingly, I did mine last week... :pimp

Slick 04-12-2007 09:25 AM

I should be getting a call from my accountant in the next day or two. I always wait until the last minute because I also dread that payment, it's always horrible, ha ha ha.

Plus from what I hear, if you wait until the last minute with everyone else, there's a lower chance of being audited :) I really wouldn't have anything to worry about, but I'd rather not have it happen to me, ha ha.

NinjaSteve 04-12-2007 09:27 AM

Oooooooh yeah... I seemed to have forgotten about taxes. I'll be doing them tomorrow.

iamkathi 04-12-2007 09:39 AM

Actually, you have until the 17th. Since the 15th falls on a Sunday and Monday the 16th is some holiday we have been granted by the IRS gods 2 extra days.

see www.irs.gov

I'll do mine this weekend.

BigBacchus 04-12-2007 09:43 AM

I took all of my paperwork to my accountant on the last day of March, and they say they are still not "done".
Slow people work in every industry I guess

channel69content 04-12-2007 09:44 AM

Mailed the checks in today arrrgh!

Sosa 04-12-2007 09:49 AM

got mine done like 6 weeks ago

96ukssob 04-12-2007 09:58 AM

ARGH! I wait until the last minute to do this. They owe me money from last year, but I owe them from thsi year... i think i will include a note saying "we are even" which im hoping they will accept :winkwink:

robfantasy 04-12-2007 10:04 AM

the irs just cashed my fucking check, sickest feeling of the year

Rochard 04-12-2007 10:07 AM

I got my refund last month - a rather large one.

I've been working on my fiances for the past few years, setting up my own company.... The tax benefits have been great.

hollinator 04-12-2007 10:13 AM

Did mine back in February. Good times...

MandyBlake 04-12-2007 10:16 AM

our extension was filed a couple days ago

Juicy D. Links 04-12-2007 10:21 AM

I filed a 2 year extension

D 04-12-2007 10:31 AM

I did my own this year, and have decided that tax laws were certainly written with the intent of keeping our country's accountant's employed.

Somehow, though, I managed to stumble through it this last weekend, and mailed everything out on Monday.

Poppy 04-12-2007 11:07 AM

All finished and so stoked on how much I owe. Thought it was going to be MUCH higher.

woj 04-12-2007 11:10 AM

can't wait to do it, It's worse than going to a dentist :-/

cosis 04-12-2007 11:24 AM

I sent mine in today, not looking forward to the checks clearing to the IRS though

modF 04-12-2007 01:42 PM

ROFLMAO! :1orglaugh

If only that could be so.

My poor accountant looks at my with sympathy because he usually loses me within the first 10 minutes of the appointment when he breaks down all the different taxes, details, needs, etc.

I just glazed over this morning with checkbook in hand. We filed my extension but not before I handed over a check to go with it. The vicodin helped ease the pain.

ugh... perhaps it is time to move somewhere else :upsidedow

JD 04-12-2007 02:39 PM

i'll be doing them this weekend :X

Kiwigirl 04-12-2007 03:02 PM

weird as i understood it even if you get an extension your check still has to be mailed on time, only the paperwork later.

That's the way I've always understood it. An extension just delays the paperwork deadline, not the date they want their money.

trix 04-12-2007 03:27 PM

Just talked to my CPA and we gotta do an extension, as usual, because I want late getting the stuff to him. That costs me an extra $300 or so. He does a lot of big corporate clients and I am lucky he still does mine. I don't make that much online anymore, trust me. He has been my accountant since I had a jewelry store. That said....

FUCK YOU COMPANIES WHO SENT OUT THE FORMS LATE OR NOT AT ALL!!!!

I delayed getting my stuff to him by waiting on the forms that never showed up so it was mid March when I decided they were not coming. Assholes!

bdld 04-12-2007 03:28 PM

got mine done myself late march.

IllTestYourGirls 04-12-2007 03:28 PM

how can you send a check for the exact amount due if the paperwork isn't done to tell you how much you owe?

it's good to send a check with an 'estimated' amount and it revises later when you finalize your paperwork.

also, there is some type of penalty with extensions if you pay all of it later with the paperwork... see my other post, that was about the time I 'glazed over' during the explanation.

I just paid the man, that all :disgust

~nods in agreement~ Yep, I have no idea how a person would do it other than estimating.

I just know that not sending any money is probably a bad idea. :)

I've got mine done, but am waiting until Tuesday to actually write the checks. I paid my estimated quarterlies today, and didn't think that my system could handle the shock of doing anything more.

shermo 04-12-2007 09:04 PM

Amendment is being filed on Saturday...I forgot to do my LLC before sending in my personal. OOPS!

darnit 04-12-2007 09:13 PM

corp and personal. done and done. :thumbsup

CabanaBoy 04-13-2007 11:11 AM

Got mine done yesterday. FedEx'd them to a friend in Maui who's gonna mail them the evening of the 17th via surface mail. Should take an extra three weeks to get to the IRS, meaning three more weeks of interest on the money to lessen the ass raping they've inflicted on me this year.

It sucks that the first payment of estimated 2007 taxes is due at the same time as the 2006 return. Double penetration on the ol' ass.

oops, I thought one depended on the other, ie. have to do your biz one before you know what to pay yourself for the personal one to pay taxes on it. LOL

tony286 04-13-2007 01:03 PM

Sad for them...

I paid more than the average American makes in a lifetime. I just wish it was being used for something useful.

My first financial advisor (who got caught for not paying taxes) told me something I'll never forget: "Every $1.00 paid in taxes is $1.01 wasted by the government."
