Any of youse music/DJ types use Traktor?

Been looking at it for a while now, and even though it seems like sacrelige to a vinyl junkie like me, I'll be able to take my whole collection when I go travelling and DJ, so could be good...

Anybody using it? Good, bad?

Ben_MN 04-12-2007 07:13 AM

Ive had a good play with it

The sampling and looping can be fun and the filters weren't bad either for stripping tracks down to beat/bass/vocals, but the beat matching was iffy to say the least, takes a lot of practice to be able to nudge tracks into time.

But not tried the new versions - It's fun, but its never going to replace 12's.

There is a deck on the market that you can only push digital tracks though and it gives you the manipulationability (yes i made it up) of a direct drive deck for MP3's...ill have a look for a link.

Hmm, this is what I'd be mostly using it for - live club mixing. Perhaps it isnt the best thing then....

Can u not find a demo? With a bit of practice it might be do-able, I didnt have the patience

Yea there's one on the native instruments site. I'm just lazy and would rather get recommendations from people rather than go through demos of all the software out there. :)

Serato Scratch Live ftw. Thats what i use. pretty expensive though

Mike, check out torq by m-audio

Torq uses the time coded vinyl engine, origionally in final scratch

Torq Also works with the rewire engine of ableton.

Torq is half the price of final scratch and serato scratch live.

hit me up if you have any questions.

I've tried torq and i found it not as responsive as serato

Most of the DJ's I know use it.

I use traktor a lot in the studio, but not so much while I am playing live

Yea I have used exclusively vinyl for like 11 years now, I avoided CD decks like the plague when they appeared.

Do you think you could use Traktor live easily?
