is the desert really good for you?
ok so i've always heard that when sick or depressed you should head for the desert. i dunno why, just always heard that it is good for you, maybe physically and/or spiritually... anyone ever heard this or know why?? maybe sometyhing to do with indians or gods or spirits or something. haha...

I was in Tucson last June. I nearly died.
|
Yep...head for the dessert!!! Anything with chocolate in it will cheer you up a treat. Chocolate has the same ingredient in it that MJ has that 'cheers up' the brain. What is it called again......seratonin? I could be way off. Its late and my brain is giving up the ghost.
|
Chocolate and Marajuana don't have the same chemical... just play with the same receptor, I think.... May be wrong, though, I'm not an expert on either.
As for dessert. Can I get an Amen for PIE? |
ok people
FOCUS damn i sound like a teacher |
I'm a photographer, I know abou focus. Are you accusing me of digressing?
... Though there was that one shoot where the focus was pretty fucked up. But it doesn't happen often. I remember this one time when...... Sorry. Focus. Yeah. |
boston cream pie is one of my favorites.:)

Gotta say, though... a nice raspberry pie, maybe with a little apple in it. Niiice. And then, of course, you got your meat pies... Steak and Ale, Peppersteak, cornish pastie, scotch pie... mmm... Gotta love pie. Oh, sorry. Right. Focus. Um... low humidity. sand. bright light. |

now where did i put my cheesecake... |
Umm, I hate to be a spoil sport here but I think that saying goes back to when people went to faraway places to die so they won't bother the rest of village with their sickness or problems. Most people didn't live in the desert by choice back when that saying was created. There was no Starbucks in the desert back then, only vultures to clean your dead butt up when you pass.

Seriously now... The thing with deserts being healthy...
Low humidity means easier to breathe air. It also tends to mean fewer particles in the air, since humidity tends to encourage stuff to float around, I think. Anyhow, the point is, nice clean dry air. It is good for a number of resperatory problems. So if you happen to have TB, asthma, or anything like that, it will help. Otherwise, it won't make a difference. Just stay inside during the day from May to August. I am *nod* kidding, especially in Phoenix. Tucson is a little better, but Phoenix is hot. Expect to pay a lot for AC. You won't want to turn it off. On the up side... and I don't usually think this is true about specific places... but they have some fine women in Phoenix. Dayum. Nice. Don't know what it is... people just seem to take care of themselves in Phoenix. Plus, it is *always* the right weather for skimpy clothes, and the tans are natural. (We all know I prefer pale girls, right? Well the tan girl in AZ ain't so bad.) |
Despite the fact that most people like to see a tan, (a) it ages the skin faster than not tanning, and (b) there is no amount of sun (or other tanning rays) which are really healthy.
So, no, the desert is NOT good for you. |
