Well, black people were de jure second class citizens until 1956, and de facto second class citizens for many decades later. Because of this, many black citizens were denied jobs and forced to live in ghettos, due to lack of money.

This treatment of blacks for so many years have no doubt had a negative impact on blacks to the present times. By 'forcing' blacks into the ghettos, much of the black population was living in poverty.

Black people aren't "inferior", "lazy", or "stupid"; they were just born into a bad situation which possibly resulted from past treatment. Is it an excuse to argue for compensation? Maybe. Is it something that should be shrugged off and not thought about? I don't think so.

No one forced blacks into ghetto's. I grew up in Miami, were there are still ghetto's and most of the community is black. No one is making them live there. They can move but they chose to stay there. A lot of people of all races were born into bad situations from past treatments. They should get compensation too then. I am not compensating anyone for slavery. I never owned a slave. Why should anyone have to pay for a deed that their relative did? That is just plain stupid.
