n00b help - need programs/scripts installed on dedicated server
My site has been doing really well and I had to upgrade to a dedicated server -- however I have no idea what I'm doing. Its running fedora 5 64-bit and I can give the other details to whoever is interested in helping me. Basically, my final product needs to be able to run Comus Thumbs and TTT. I need help installing the background programs for comus and TTT, like PHP4 with MySql (should already be installed?), Zend Optimizer, Image Magick and GD for PHP preferably 32bit GD2, and Wget for the auto installer(?).
I'm very, very lost and any help would be much appreciated. - I will pay! - Hit me up at [email protected], or ICQ #459759766 |
Hi HappySkeet
Are you the admin of the dedicated server ? If so then I would suggest using UBUNTU Server because it is much easier to use !
If your not the admin of the dedicated server I would suggest contacting the admin and requesting that they install the background programs for you.. they might charge you for such a service... Providing that you have both PHP & Mysql installed; just make sure the version number of PHP is the same that you are using... Good Luck, . |
I believe I am the admin, based on the fact that he server is unmanaged and since I was "not a full-time server admin" it was recommended that I get Plesk control panel (havent figured that one out either :p ) .
I really just need the basics of how to access my server. Do I use a telnet or what? I'm familiar with FTP and I know how to use VNC to control another computer... but just how does one access/control a server? I'm lost :( I need to know, i guess, how to get to a command prompt or some sort of GUI for my server. If I can do that, then I can research some FAQs and how-to's on google and try to figure out what to do. -Thanks in advance- |
If you're willing to pay me, I'm willing to fix it all up for ya :)
Skilled labour doesn't come cheap though :P I will be your server admin if you need it. |
Hi HappySkeet
If you were using Ubuntu I could help you... however Fedora; I don't like one bit !
I'm working on my new tgp website that will allow everyone to submit their theaters on my site through XML feeds! This is going to be a free service and those who take part will be able to display all their tgp feed(s) on my site. Within a few days my tgp website will be up and running. I will be posting my URL when I am finished... If you have interest in my project please email me at: [email protected] |

you can hit me up, im cheap as fuck and I sit at my computer all fucking day. I am more qualified to install and configure a linux box than most. Scripts are a breeze, and usually i can alter them(were that is allowed in the user agreement) to work better or have added features. Im getting pretty good at using comus too! i got a kid to feed, hook it up!
