What kind of cats make the best pets?
being around jays cool ass cats makes me want one. i need a cat with personality though.
what say you? i like those seal points but jay says they aint that friendly and reading up on them, he's right. whats the most friendliest coolest pussy out there? meowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww no i don't want a dog. i love dogs too, but my house is clean clean clean and i travel to much to give it the attention they need. a cat don't care if your dead as long as theres food around. |
My cat is Siamese/Persian..very vocal and quite smart in her own way (for a cat)
|
Dead ones.
|
Best pet cat is a dead one. Put it in a hole and forget about it.
|
We got four - but they're all mixed breeds and different temperments.
Picking a friendly one is often a crap shoot. We've generally found they tend to reflect their owner's personality as they get older. Treat it good and chances are you'll reap what you sow (for lack of a better cliche, heh). |
Dead cats make the perfect pets, they'll even ward off any future cats that come around your yard.
Best of all you can get them for free! http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/3668/16catof5.jpg edit: Holy shit at all the dead cat references in the past two mins! |
Get a siberian!
without a doubt the coolest cats i've ever seen... mine plays fetch, plays hide and seek, will ambush you if he thinks you're hiding from him, he makes these weird chirping noises i havent seen other cats do and all kinds of other cool shit he's like a dog... if he's asleep and you leave the room to take a piss, he's right there at the bathroom door waiting for you + they're hypoallergenic :) http://jenna.525i.net/ro.jpg http://jenna.525i.net/roseph_jackson_black_fist.jpg http://jenna.525i.net/siberian_kitty.jpg i can put you in touch w/ the breeder i got mine from, i was not expecting such an awesome cat... EVERYONE loves this guy |
i will never ever own another siamese again.

Now this is gonna sound real blonde, but from my experience the big fluffier cats are alot more mellow and sweet!
As you know Charlie is pretty much psycho but hes also very sweet in his own way! http://www.martinawarren.com/myspace/charlie.jpg |

HAHAHAHA awesome. this might be the cat i should get.
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devon_Rex Behaviour The typical Devon is active, mischievous, playful, and very people-oriented. They have been described as a cross between a cat, a dog and a monkey. They are high-jumpers and will try to occupy any space large enough to admit them. With this trait, they are often found in odd nooks and crannies of a closet, shelf, or laundry basket. They are relatively easy to take care of. Most Devons also have one central person to whom they devote their love, and on whom they will most often lay and rub. They like to playfully bite, and will bite strangers they do not recognize. thats me, odd, monkey, and biting people. hahahaha |

If you want personality get a Bengal.
We have a Silver spotted bengal and she is awesome. http://www.jekomedia.com/other/DSC_4063.jpg I took that picture showing the hardwood I just put in, but she is licking her paw. We also have a marble seal point bengal and a siamese ragdoll. the siamese ragdoll you can do anything to and will still purr and come back to you. if your mean to one of the bengals they will let you know they dont like it. |
Is it weird if I get a cat and talk to it for hours and have real long conversations with it like you would to a human?
|
Only if it talks back.

not a breed but every calico cat I've met seems to be really cool & friendly for some reason..
But my next cat would be a Maine Coon - they are a great breed http://www.a2zcats.com/books/breeds/...maine-coon.jpg http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs.cmu.edu.../mainecoon.GIF |
Click for some of my cats
I raise Persians and Himalayans and I can tell you, these are the greatest cats. They need lots of brushing and so on, but you won't find a better cat for a pet. They are playful AND laid back..... they are the least aggressive cats I think I have ever seen. I have had some for as long as 2 years and have been scratched maybe 3-4 times total. They make awesome companions. :) |

ALOT hinges on the way they are raised and so many other things. Journey, my Seal Point is one of the best behaved ones I have, but when she wants your attention, she stops at nothing to get it. She doesn't get on my counters or screw up anything..... she just has an attitude when she wants to play or get a little love. But she is an amazing cat. :) If you want the name of her Breeder, I can get it for you..... she is the single best breeder of Seal Points and she is cheap. ;) |
GARFIELD is nice - but 2 years ago I was bitten by a cat and since then I'm not really into that kind of being
|
"i know there are hot chicks in this club and we are going to keep walking around until we find them!"

I'm so fucking allergic to cats that I start sneezing immediately upon walking into someone's house who has a cat, regardless of how clean they keep their house. |
have had many different pure breeds over the years and must admit that the 2 that has made the biggest impression on me is the Manx and the Mainecoon..
Had a wonderfull sacret birma too but he was the only one i ever meet in this breed that had a personallity worth a damn.. |

Airek, Devon Rex's run about $500. There is a breeder in Sunrise, FL I've done web work for to barter for my 2 devons. Check out DevonRexCats.com for her contact info or to talk to her for info about the breed.
This is Pixel, my boy http://farm1.static.flickr.com/38/96...e8887e56_o.jpg A note about their fur - their coats take 2-3 years to fill in, they only have 2 types of fur, most cats have 3, they have the downy undercoat and the short hairs, no long hairs. This makes them feel like a bunny, almost like mink, with a kinky texture to give their coats a wavy appearance. They shed, but nothing like a long hair breed. They aren't 'hypoalergenic' but most people with allergies to cats do not feel affected in a devon house or around them. They like to sleep in the bed, underthe covers, by your side, on your pillow - where ever they can touch you. They will follow you around, some fetch, they are lap cats so if you work at home on a computer they will either be on your monitor or in your lap at all times. They get along well with other cats and dogs without getting 'pissy'. Mine didn't really get 'vocal' until they got older - if you ask them a question or talk to them, they'll chirp, meow and twitter back at you. To bathe, just wipe them down with a wet wash cloth as needed (usually only their paws and bellies - bellies dont really get any fur), clean their ears and clip their claws weekly. Scratching - if you have a post around just show them where it is and pretend to claw on it, they will follow suit. If you see them try to scratch something (usually carpet) just show them their post and they learn quickly - we never have a problem. No special diets are needed. Overall health has been excellent - but it does depend on the pet. If you have any problems with a new kitten you should communicate with the breeder first, including any health issues. If you choose a kitten that is not 'right' for your home, most will exchange them for another no problem - they want a happy cat and owner and home over all else. Good luck no matter what type of kitty you choose! |
Awwwww, A1r3k...
http://imagehost.awms-network.com/up...9d0cb55f62.jpg I'll be your puddy tat:winkwink: |
who ever said 'dead ones' you are mean!
i have 2 kitties, they rock :) |
|
Siamese aren't bad cats, they just gravitate towards one person. If it is just you living in the house obviously it would cling to you. I have always had Siamese and have had some very loving, cuddly, cuties. I do recommend getting a male cat. I have never had a female cat that wasn't horrible.
Have you checked out those naked cats? They are super cute, don't know about their personality though. |
Maine Coon Cats are the best !
Cute, smart and looking mean as hell :thumbsup http://hjem.get2net.dk/Rivendells/me...c/kentucky.jpghttp://hjem.get2net.dk/Rivendells/me.../kentucky5.jpg My pink pussy male.. http://hjem.get2net.dk/Rivendells/me...lpic/wanda.jpghttp://hjem.get2net.dk/Rivendells/me...ics/wanda4.jpg ..and his mean looking mother ! http://hjem.get2net.dk/Rivendells/me...spring/jjj.jpg ..big ear kittens ! They are more dog like than cat like in many ways (i play fetch with mine) and want to be involved in everything you do, and can be pretty big too (10-14kg if you get the right lines) |
