Check out his world record 1,203 stroke in 60 seconds videos. He teaches at Berklee in Boston a friend of mine has him as instructor. He's a cool dude, check out some of his drum solo videos.

His son, Zak Starkey, is way better than Ringo ever was and currently playing with The Who. My brother, Kebo the drum tech, will be touring with The Cult this summer and they will be playing a string of European dates opening for The Who. He psyched as hell to meet Zak.

TSGlider 04-10-2007 04:44 PM

Wasn't the old question, Neil Peart or Stewart Copeland?

sniperwolf 04-10-2007 05:14 PM

Lars Ulrich is the best drummer for me..:thumbsup

dready 04-10-2007 05:20 PM

I like Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy and like some of Terry Bozzio's work too.

tony286 04-10-2007 07:25 PM

I agree with everyone except Alex VH fair at best

_Rush_ 04-10-2007 07:38 PM

BTW, I don't think Danny Carey comes close to Peart's or Bozzio's league.

uno 04-10-2007 08:16 PM

Ah, that would be him. I always love when Buckethead joins Primus on stage too.

CDSmith 04-10-2007 08:28 PM

Of all time --- Bonham and Moon were and always will top the all time best list, they are gods.

Peart is the reining king though. The list of top existing drummers starts with him.

I'd like to add a shoutout here for the drummer of BOC. Maybe not the best drummer but that guy sure puts on a show, when he gets that dinosaur head on for "Godzilla" he pounds those drums nearly to ashes.

Former semi-pro drummer with a scholarship to Berklee back in the day here. :thumbsup

Still, the fact that I do not like Carey doesn't mean that you can't like him. He's a great and powerful drummer, but he doesn't come close to others IMHO. In fact, I really started disrespecting him ever since I read somewhere that he said that Bozzio doesn't play with enough "musicality". :Oh crap

If there is a drummer out there trying to take drums farther than just a percussion instrument, it's Terry Bozzio.

WarChild 04-10-2007 08:33 PM

Half points to Rick Allen for effort
