Let users upload their photos

Hi GFY,

I am starting a new adult site soon and wanted to know if there are any good scripts to let users upload their photos and post a message. If there is some sort of virus protection with it also. Otherwise I guess I'll have to have them emailed to me. Let me know,

thanks :)

hey there joselle

yes, there are probably hundreds of scripts like that.. you can do a google for "picture upload scripts", "picture upload script with comments", etc.

you need to take into consideration the scripting language of your site (perl or php, or..)

also, don't sweat any concern with viruses for images.. the files aren't excecuted (ran), and you can modify or have someone else modify the script to check for image type/file size.

you could look into creating your adult website around some free open-source community software that usually has everything you need.

just ask around gfy for suggestions.

peace

Sorry, but that's wrong. Recently a LFI (Local File Inclusion) exploit showed up, it's pretty popular right now that let's you embed php code in jpg images...and many scripts are vulnerable to it, incuding well known forum and blogging scripts. They show up as normal pictures and bypass any checks by the script.

Surfers can upload illegal content, each pic must be checked, the most part of standart scripts don't allow it, that's why it's not a good idea to use them.

OH ok thanks guys for your help. :) I was scoping out google and found a couple but haven't tried them. Maybe I'll just let people email their pics to me so I can virus scan them.

Also remember if showing images with explicit content, you should have 2257 paperwork for each and every model. I was in a seminar with Bernstein at the P.F. last week and this questions came up.
Although there is a certain amount of leniency in the way laws are currently worded, you probably wouldn't have a great time if someone uploaded something illegal.
Ensure you have strict rules, approve everything and in the event of someone questioning the copyright or legality of anything, remove it immediately (ensure you have good email links on your pages to your customer service).
Good luck

Thanks seanchai :thumbsup great words of wisdom! I was wondering about the 2257 law and I think I'll have a form page for people to fill out that will have fields for them to fill in their info when they send me their photos. And yes if someone questions something I'll remove it.

People wont give you their personal info just to upload a picture..

In my opinion youre better off going the other way. Have a check box that says they are the owner of the image they are uploading, and over 18 (if explicit or nude) and accept all responsibility for blah blah.

That way if something gets up there thats illegal or copyright you can just say "Sorry." and remove it. Put a disclaimer at the bottom of pages saying content is provided by third partys, if anything is in violation please report to.. blah blah email. Same as most dating sites do.

On the other hand if youre approving everything thats going through your system and you make a mistake and approve something illegal youre responsible for that being there.

Ahh yes ok good point. I certainly don't want to get into trouble with the law.

And does anyone use joomla for their sites?
