I loved Planet Terror, but thought that Tarantino's Death Proof could have been better. The dialog was great, but the story really didn't go anywhere or explain anything. The violence and gore rocked in both.

They should've added an intermission. At the real double features that played like that, you had an intermission in between. I think the length was a deterrent for a lot of people who weren't sure they wanted to sit through two full movies. When I used to hit the double features, if we didn't feel like it we'd just leave at intermission and maybe come back to see the other one another time.

I don't think it is a stinker. Rated over 80% at rottentomatoes.com. They just confused people in how they marketed it. I personally can't wait to see it. Didn't have time this weekend.

I'm a HUGE QT fan and his "movie" was definitely a stinker. The zombie flick rocked.

I agree... Planet Terror was bad ass. Death Proof was very very slow after that movie. Just couldnt get into it, though it did pick up towards the end.

Yeah, right when it picks up...it fucking ends. Nice ending though...I totally didn't expect it to play out like that. I was just expecting more, which is why I was let down.

Kill Bill it wasn't.

Article is more like that their financial planning didn't work out, not that the movies weren't any good.. I'm still looking forward to seeing them

WTF! I only heard great reviews!

fris 04-09-2007 01:34 PM

The trailer with the girl with one leg and a gun attached to the nub did it for me. If you're not already a Quentin or Rodriguez fan, it comes off like a rediculous B movie par with a Rob Zombie flick. I think that could have been a big detterent too.

:2 cents:

Speaking of Rob Zombie, the trailer for his reinvented Halloween was awesome. Can't wait to see that one.

Opening a movie like this on Easter weekend probably wasn't the brightest move. They also couldn't expect HUGE numbers due to the 3 hour run time and the fact that the movies it paid tribute to aren't exactly that well klnown to mainstream movie fans.

Planet Terror was the better of the two, but I thoroughly enjoyed both flicks. They were a Valentine to the movies I grew up on and loved.

Tarantino is always a little self-indulgent, but I love playing "spot the reference" in his movies. It feels like he and I could have been sitting in the same theaters for years in our youths watching and loving the same movies.

The movie should do really well on DVD.
