Kinda familiar with this case - he was convicted based on the evidence in killing a 19 year old girl. He then tried to pay people off to avoid conviction. He is utterly stupid in his conduct and more than likely chance he would have been convicted in the US.

He is also entitled to a an appeal process which "should" be due in the next few months and clear any issues which may have been overlooked at his trial. Even now, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt - but he has a responsibilty to present credible evidence (he's had more than enough time to get his story correct) to appeal court judges.

Overall.. assume this is what you are referring to... some folks consider they can travel to other countries, ignore their laws, fuck with children, commit frauds, behave like idiots and knife people - then whinge and moan when they are arrested/convicted or thrown out of the country. Unfortunately, there are a high percentage of these idiots from North America - in fact, in some countries, - it's the major source of serious crime incidents.

Got no sympathy whatsoever for em - but ya also got to stay aware of wrongful conviction.

There is a *lot* of leeway on most things and it just takes some common sense to stay outta the shit. If ya would not behave like that in whatever your home country is, why behave otherwise elsewhere?

Now they promise 16 years in a jail cell of pedo activity - then even had to print it as a warning on the airline entry paperwork. In practice... they don't want to waste time on foreign idiots and usually pass em over to spend time in jail on their home countries. Even got a US Marshal LearJet which picks em all up every Thursday on a round trip down thru South America to take em back to a jail cell in the US.

That's what they say. Of course they are going to dismiss his alibi witnesses who said he was in a town 2 hours away at the time of the murder, and say they are lying and get other people to lie to convict the "evil" American.


Fact is I've seen to many shows where for sure 100% innocent Americans are in foreign jails simply because they want to get even with America. To say it doesn't happen is pure ignorance.

Basically.. commit crimes in any country and your ass gets dumped in jail. It's not about the comfort level.

The final one wasn't for the elephant, it was for the car chase scene. The Icy Road thing is a very common occurrence -- just pointing out the dangers that exist outside your home so one should never leave it period [not in seriousness, of course, just pointing out how silly it is to live your life in fear].

Just don't be a dumb shit when you go to someone else's country and you will be fine. Every American should go abroad at least once in their life. Right now people don't really dig the U.S. so try to not stand out too much.

I was in some kind of restaurant where they served pizza near the Pigalle in Paris. I noticed they had pepperoni pizza so I got one. While I was waiting this guy from New York was having a fit and making a scene "I KNOW PIZZA, THIS IS NOT PEPPERONI, I'M FROM NEW YORK !" ... the loudest fucker in the entire place.

For every reason you give me for NOT leaving the USA, I will give you one for leaving.

Shit can happen to you here, just as easy as it can happen there. If you act like a fool and break the law in another country, you will pay the price. The same as you would here.

By all means if you're scared, don't go abroad. But life involves risks anywhere, no matter where you are. If this keeps you in the USA, I can't imagine what would keep you from ever leaving the house. Might as well stay home and never leave.
