Explosion At NY State Nuclear Plant

http://wcbstv.com/topstories/local_story_096112528.html

This is Indian Point Nuclear Plant in New York State.

The plant is over 30 years old and has one problem after
another in the past few years. It should be shut down
but oh no, investors would lose money.

I wouldn't want this fucker operating anywhere near
any good real estate I own. Not only is it shoddy but
it's right on the banks of a major fresh water way.

If it ever went into a meltdown it would literally destroy the
metropolitan area.

Sweat Baby Jesus!

Big_Red 04-07-2007 03:03 PM

everything is fine. nothing to worry about. i am on the other coast.

EEEK an electrical transformer exploded and they shut down for a little bit to investigate. OMFG! run away, run quick!

Oh thats right it was not serious, the investigation was just a precaution, and air tests were fine.

But if, if, if...

It was a transformer. One of those can pop absolutely anywhere.

Holy God. When Chernobyl exploded, they told it was OK as well. By the way, disposition on the other coast won't help you, Big_Red, if a really serious crash takes place.

websiex 04-07-2007 03:27 PM

Too bad it isn't serious.. could've used a few days of an interesting news story.

GAMEFINEST 04-07-2007 03:27 PM

Ja, this incident was a transformer, but read the story, there have been several shut downs over the past year alone. There're also problems with waste disposal at the plant. They actually had radioactive runoff only 30 yards from the Hudson River.

This is a bad thing. Either shut it down and relocate it or shut it down and modernize it.

The result of a catastrophic event at that reactor would be disastrous on a Biblical level. Mind you, if something occured that sent radioactive material into the Hudson, it would then be transported out to sea. Whereever that shit landed would be contaminated.
