Actually he wasn't in jail for 17 years just for smoking pot. He tested positive for smoking pot while he was on "probation" for armed robbery.

"Tyrone Brown was a poor teenager with no criminal record when Judge Keith Dean initially put him on probation in 1990 for taking part in an armed robbery in which no one was hurt."

You go rob a store today and get out on probation and get caught breaking your probation and tell me that the judge isn't going to send to back to jail. Sure 17 years is a long time and much longer than he should have been in jail compared to todays sentences, but his original conviction was armed robbery.

You break probabtion and normally you go back and serve your full sentace.

The idiot broke the law while being out on probation. Personally I don't want idiots who make such fucking stupid decisions out on the streets as he has no ability to control his actions and stop himself from doing incredibly idiotic things. Probation terms are very clear and if he had actually thought before smoking up he would have realized what he was risking.

Yeah that is true. Snoop is always busted for pot. A lot of the rappers have committed crimes worse then a joint and they were let off pretty damn easy. I think money gets you off no matter what color you are.

This case had really nothing to do with smoking pot, the guy robbed a store and was out on parole. He broke his parole and was sentenced to his full sentence from the armed robbery.

Would you rather have guys whom rob store at gun point just let back on the streets?

Murderer, is exactly what this guy could have been had things went wrong in his armed robbery.

I think the point is that smoking a joint shouldn't break your parole. No offense, but I'd rather have our recently re-introduced to society armed robbers chillin out, subdued with a bowl of that ooooohhhweeeeee than whatever else it is they normally do.

Maybe it is, but that isn't really the point. They are trying to make it out like all the guy did was smoked a joint and he being a poor black guy was sentanced to life.

I'm not saying life was fair in this case, but the guy did much more than to "just samoke a joint".

Wait a second...nowhere did I read in that article that he robbed a store. A guy was robbed for 2$...and you don't even know to which extent the guy was involved, nor even if a gun was involved, hence the probation. You seem to be writing your own story as you go along lol
