I hate the French.....
 

They bought the water company in my area (Thames)....

and still I have to troll down to the shops like some old fish wife for wine.

They spent billions on the Wine Tunnel - and still not a drop reaches our taps.

but i dont HATE the brits, i like them actually,
seeing them going to work under the rain, during the month of May, in their coat because it's 4 degrees celcius out, trying to make a living in their ridiculously expensive cities, makes me feel good about myself ;)

Atleast they have a job, unlike alot of French.

France is fucked, the pensions, 35 hour week, retiring at 55 for state employees, they can't afford it, but they can't change it..

Our social system pays 70% of our last salary during 2 years when we're laid off.

That's why many of us cash in while working again, but not declaring it to the authorities; also very often you'll hear a freshly fired french guy say "Just been laid off, well, will begin to search for another job in 6 months or so".

If suddently we'd only get 300EUR/mo for 6 months after being fired like it is in the UK, if I remember correctly, the unemployment rate would most definately drop from 9 to 3-4 percents.

Exactly, you can't afford to keep doing that. France is fucked economically, just gonna take a while for the people to realise it, your politicians know, they tried to change things abit, you all went on strike.

dude if you still think that the strikers decide the politic and economic orientation of a country, then you have a lot to catch up, that's not the way it works! (not in france, not in the US, not in any country in the world actually....)

Yep Nastymed you don't know france... everytime there is a good proposal unions go on strike and stop the proposal... they don't wanna cahgne anything or they loose their power...
