Tom honestly, not trying to bust your balls but, on the first example I clicked it was a background someone else created, and a logo someone else created.
If I designed that paysite and saw someone selling galleries for 5 bucks of my work I would be pissed.
Yeah the gallery looks great, but you are selling someone elses background and logos man.

Fletch... =) Everyone does that, including me, its just tying in the gallery directly with the site...
Converts much better when there is a direct relationship, and the people can imagine they're from the same site.
Wouldnt call it stealing, he's promoting see asians with the gallery. =)Comment

I think its okay to do if its *your* gallery, on your site.... but if you are charging someone for a gallery and pulling the logo from somewhere, you are making money from someone elses work (the designer who made the pretty logo) which has nothing to do with the sponsor, you, the customer, etc. Get it?Originally posted by va2k

In my book, you don't use someone else's design-- even the logo-- without their permission. If they have a program set up for you to use thieir logos, and thus gave permission, it is cool with me. Like the galleries you are doing for me-- I *sent* you the images and logos, and I *want* you to match the feel of our site. If they didn't ask for it, directly, or through their promotion program, then it's iffy.Originally posted by va2k

Ok I have fired off 6 emails 2 icq's to ALL THE SPONSORS I use and AGAIN I will get their permission and post here to prove my point. I HAVE permission Im not doing anything wrong.Comment

I don't think the sponsors mind, or that its breaking any rules. Besides for $5 a gallery I doubt anyone would complain now that I think about it hehe. I guess us designers are just a little touchy about that sort of thing.

well I would too thats not the problem ma'am I got the permission from topbucks from ars and a few others I use but don't have the emails cause I lost them when my hard drive crashed. So now I resent them emails and icq's so I can post it here and prove im not doing anything wrong. NOW if one writes back and says NO Then I will start a new thread asking all my clietns that I have done this with to get a hold of me and I will redo their galleries I allready charged them for for free.Originally posted by cherrylula

I just want to put peoples mind at ease, and mine. I would never do anything to put anyone in harms way. Like when I buy content from planetconent.com I have HIM DEAN The owner send the client all the legals in's and outs...

i agree with fletch but i guess if your making a gallery for that paticular sponser then it shouldn't be a problem,,
sometimes i cut a FPA and place thumbs,, it just makes the surfers transition from gallery to tours alot smoother,,Comment

If making the gallery look like the sponsors site increases sales why would I care.
I'd think you had done your research. All contracted you to do was to build a gallery.
For $5/$10 how much original design work can you reasonable expect?

I think some point is missed: the guy makes $5 galleries (I hate you! ), he uses the sponsors' look and gives to the client a finished product that look cool enough and (hopefully) will convert. As a designer with a degree in marketing, I think he's doing everything all right, if the sponsors have no problem (and I'm almost sure they don't), then it's perfect. And for 5 bucks! Man, I'm hating you more and more

Tom you're in the right so don't sweat it. We've done the same thing that you are doing and have never had a sponsor say no since 1995. If one would, we'd drop them like a hot potato.
Btw, the old man just had me email you for 20 more galleries. Hopefully by next Wednesday? Will do paypal for 50% down after dinner. Food first.
