My first blog - WordPress problems - please help

I'm having alot of troubles getting wordpress to be exactly how I want it for my site, its the most fiddley annoying piece of software I've ever used, I really don't like the way the templates works. I want to customize the way the list of archives and categories is displayed and there is no clear way to do this. Anyone got any ideas?

Ok cool ill have a look around and if i cant find out ill ask you, btw what do you think of my site its my first pron site im trying hard on.

I personally like it, The color and the layout are good. Like karteo said there are alot of plugins that give you functionality to simplify things.
