Optimal TGP thumb size?

I'm building new "big tits" TGP. What's the optimal thumbnail resolution? I was suggested 90x120. What do you think?

Nicky 04-02-2007 06:52 PM

120x150 IMO, but it depends on some factors

Marshal 04-02-2007 07:24 PM

isn't that too big? would large thumbs improve productivity?

mattz 04-02-2007 07:28 PM

Lol, it really depends on what your trying to accomplish, sometimes I'll do 225x275 or i might do 120x225 or i might do 175x175

It all depends on what your trying to accompish/what niches/who you will be trading with

please, don't laugh, i'm really beginner with TGP optimization, that's why i'm asking for help...

i would stay away from the larger thumb sizes, a lot of the large thumb size tgps, their productivity isn't always that great

they usally have a very high skim, you just get jerked around.

i would keep your thumb either 90x120, 88x88, 110x150

limit yourself to the smaller ones, and when you start trading traffic try and trade with the same thumb sizes.

the bigger sized thumbs sometimes have thumbs that are bizarre and weird looking, and some of the time don't even link to the correct content.

people want what they see.

Marshal 04-02-2007 10:21 PM

ok, i would stick to 90x120... let's give it a try... :)

I'm no TGP guru but IMO a 90x120 thumb is too small with todays higher screen resolutions.

(I still provide that size though if you are interested.)

the smaller the thumbs the more you can fit on one page the more clicks they pull the more prod you have..

external prod could suffer though..it's a game of balancing..

Content is king. What's on the thumbs!!! The sicker the better it seems today.

Yeah that whole concept wants me to watch a Threes company rerun

You'll get a ton of different opinions including mine. I recommend using 180x135. On a personal level I have quite a few MGP's and the ones that have an awesome production % & conversion ration are the 180x135's.

I hope that helps.

TGPturnkeys 04-03-2007 02:48 AM

I think that 88x88 is more popular on sites with sidebars on left or right for top list and banners
and 180x135 popular on sites without sidebars just thumbs

so true! almost forgot about content :-)
But it's hard not having over-exposed sponsor content these days..

rowan 04-03-2007 06:12 AM

As BV said, 90x120 is too small these days. The size of each pixel is getting smaller relative to the screen size, so 90x120 on a modern LCD monitor is small. 88x88 is tiny.

tranza 04-03-2007 07:45 AM

90x120, 110x150 or 120x160

Take your pick.

beta-tester 04-03-2007 08:02 AM

if I were about to start new tgp now I'd go for 110x150 honestly!
