There isn't one, we just don't over charge for our services. The cost of doing business for us is much less thanks to our agreement and join venture status with BurstNet our colocation partner.

Give it a try, we are offering a 30 day money back guarantee, so what do you have to loose!

Oh but it is, again offering 30 day money back guarantee, so if your not happy, just simply cancel, and we will refund your money.

hostcentrex 03-31-2007 12:51 PM

Let me ask a question, if I was charge $599 for this service, would you take it. Everyone seems a bit taken by the fact we are charging what we believe to be a fair price.

If you can charge $599 for it and you're dishing it out for less than half that, without any competitor coming close to even the higher price here, then you're either REALLY dumb or there's a BIG catch or you're simply an idealist. In the latter case most would still think the first one would apply.

mattz 03-31-2007 01:01 PM

I'm interested, I will email you on Monday

you don't know shit about servers/hosting huh? If the only place you look for hosting is GFY, your the dumb one.

"without any competitor coming close" lol get off of GFY and look around a bit, their are lots of competitors for around that price, but I would say around 300

Actually, if you even assume that the regular GFY'er would look outside industry boards looking for hosting, then you're the dumb one.

A day of downtime or slowness for someone who is pushing 100mbps + costs a lot more then 200 bucks

I agree with you completely, thus the reason this is a managed server, with a 99.999% uptime SLA. It is our goal, and duty to make sure that our customers have the best possible server at the fairest possible price.

What most don't understand is that bandwidth is really the cheapest part of a hosting product, with the largest part of the ROI coming from the hardware and cost of the Data Center Space. So if you and develop agreements from vendors to provide you a fair cost for the hardware, and space, the bandwidth really is not big deal.

Most people would agree that our price for this server is low. But we are infact a "fairly" new player in the business, thus we are offering the best possible price while still remaining profitable. Believe we our margin is there, and we are quite happy making what we do on our plans.

Some of my best customers, have come from GFY. That is why we keep coming back here. despite the general disbelief involved with our pricing.

I assume its "unmetered" however if you were to push a full 100mbps consitant then you would get dropped.

No provider, no matter what your commit is can charge $2/mbps per month and not loose money.

Im guessing the server is in a rack with 20 other servers and the entire rack has 100mbps of usable bandwidth flowing to all 20 servers. Many hosting companies sell those 20 servers as "unmetered" meaning as long as no one else is using the bandwidth its yours to use. However if all 20 servers are attempting to use the 100mbps, problems occur....

The whole "unmetered" deal works in mainstream hosting because most people who run dedicated servers are running tiny websites that use up about 2mbps at the max. And it appeals to mainstream hosting clients because if they need to burst to 5mbps for free they can. However in the adult world there is no way this can work because normal adult servers serving videos can run at 100mbps individually at no problem.

I use to run UnlimBand.com back in 1999-2002 that was spotlighting the "unlimited" and "unmetered" bandwidth host marketing. Its pretty much false advertising... Do a search on WHT for username: jimb and you will see.

Your better off being upfront and honest with your clients and telling them that you can push Xmbps guaranteed so there are no issues with clients not understanding why they are getting charged on an "unmetered" plan. If they go over one month and you do not charge them its just extra bonus points for you as a hosting company. It will make your clients, especially your adult webmasters very loyal to you.

If you are really correct about this deal and for some reason can get 100mbps at $229.95/mo I know some guys (and possibly myself) that will take 3000mbps (3gbps) for $6870/mo...and use all 3gbps...Assuming the network is solid, support is there, etc.

How much data transfer is included in the base price?

DaLord 03-31-2007 02:00 PM

Well you know what the say... if it's too good to be true it probably is :)

What do you mean, it is unmetered, generally this means just that. Unmetered no overage no matter how much you use.

However generally in standard metered accounts, we sell our servers with bandwidth transfers of about 1000 to 2000 gigs monthly. However that isn't the case here.

I use about 15000 gigs /mo now and pay about $1500 /mo, fully managed.

Do you have references?

Your shopping cart is broken. Not usually a good sign, even with references.

I always ask myself. What the fuck is so difficult about 'your' and 'you're'???

http 03-31-2007 04:20 PM

This is without a doubt a shared 100mbps line, NOT dedicated.

See Jimb's post above

Jim,

Just to give everyone a run down of how this all works.

Our 100m servers are put into racks of 30. Each rack is given a fiber connection off of our core switches. Some of our racks have 2 or 3 riber connections, so we are running multi gig cross connects between our core, and the rack edge. You are correct in the understanding that we are running these servers from a bandwidth pool. However each rack is given a dedicated amount a bandwidth. Some of my racks have 2 and 3 gig cross connects.

We a serious about our services, and work hard to provide the best possible service we can. If you are ever in our area, I would be more than willing to take you for a tour, as I am sure you will find our small but well designed data center impressive.

Thank you,
JoeW

Shouldn't it say: ... how much you are able to use through the shared connection ..

I really doubt that if someone takes for example 10 Servers that he can even use something close to 100 Mbps. My :2 cents:
