I know this guy is pissed
This is one crazy story had to share it with you guys.
Cabbie says he was stiffed on $8,200 The meter in Levon Mikayelyan's taxi cab hit the staggering fare after a 2,600-mile journey that ended at a Holiday Inn in Chapel Hill. Mikayelyan said the rider's family paid him only $800, Chapel Hill police spokeswoman Jane Cousins said Friday. "We do get reports of people who are not able to pay cab drivers, but certainly not with this amount," Cousins said. Mikayelyan filed a police report Tuesday but no charges have been filed. Cousins said police were done with the case and referred Mikayelyan to a magistrate judge. Leo Mika, a dispatcher for West Coast Yellow Cab, said Friday that the company has been paid another $2,000 toward the fare and plans to get the rest through small claims court. Mikayelyan agreed to give the woman a 25 percent discount off the metered rate, Mika said. "She told him, 'When we get there we'll pay you,' but when he got there she didn't pay," Mika said, adding that it was the first time one of the company's taxi drivers had made such a long trip. Mikayelyan was driving back to California on Friday, Mika said. The company is based outside Los Angeles in Van Nuys, Calif. |
cabs do not drive you that far, i call bullshat.
cabbies will usually not even CROSS a bridge most of the time when you leave a city. |

poor guy. i doubt a cabbie pays for hotel rooms and gas all before getting a dime. what a beautiful world. |
Took a taxi cab from Hollywood to Van Nuys one time...that was around $60...cab driver was hella hesitant..don't think this story is true....
|
I drove a Limo 1800 miles. I got 2 credit cards, and cash on arrival. I am also calling bullshit on this one, or just plain stupid.
Sounds unlikely. |
seems kind of fishy. think she really had $8200+ cash to pay that bill? "umm excuse me, but do you have change for a $10,000 bill?"
When i was in college I had to take a cab from my house to school. it was about 90 miles and the cab company needed a credit card up front before they even left. so i highly doubt they trusted her on that. if so, then the cabbie is stupid for doing it in the first place |

yeap.. i once took a taxi cab from Noho to Woodland Hills, I didn't have the cash on me but I did have my ATM with a decent amount of money available... by the time I tell the taxi driver (Melkonyan I guess it was his last name) ... i needed to go a few more blocks down the road towards the atm machine .. the guy went berserk on me and started cursing me to death and telling me all the diseases I was going to die of:Oh crap
I think there was either a language barrier or a freaking huge misunderstanding!... but I'm really surprised this guy (another armenian guy - *no offense to them*) did such a foolish thing.... If it was the driver I'm talking about I would have ended up on the 6 o'clock news :upsidedow Ohh yeahh... and FYI - They DO ALTER THE METER!!! |
that's what he gets for not asking for payment up front
