I guess that's actually a pretty nifty feature! :thumbsup It's not a replacement, just an add-on to the signup page which makes it more likely for a non-english speaker to sign up.

geo-targetting should be used to generating pricing and billing/payment options, it should never be used to determine what language to show the end user. all modern browsers give the server thier language settings. show the person the ads in the language they want and expect to see.
for instance: i live in austria but i dont speak any german, therefore german language ad's are 100% useless and you lost a potential customer. use the right tool for the job. |

Tell me, does everyone in London speak English as their primary language? |

London is mainly an English speaking city, however there are many areas that have large populations of foreign nationals. The area I live in for instance is mainly Turkish and Hebrew - down the road we have a lot of North Africans so they speak a lot of French. Afro-Caribbean areas speak English, but it can still be hard to understand if English isn't your first language. Most people that live in London will understand if you try to speak English. In a way we are accustomed to 'bad' English. :) |

Someone's location is not always indicative of the language they prefer to view content. Using someone's geographical location as their language preference is conjecture at best. |
