what in the hell is upw ith the kidnappings?

In the last couple of months we have seen an influx of news stories on kidnappings. True enough we see the have you seen me papers come in the mail form time to time and the occasional milk box kid but this is rediculous. I understand that the media has to hype up these type stories and on top of that thousands of kids are killed and kidnapped each year. I perosnally think this is a case of people seeing his on the news and starting a copycat like phase. WHat do u think?? By the way this thread was jumpstarted by 2 five year olds abducted back to back here in cali.

I think what makes this unique now is baceasue kidnappings by STRANGERS are very rare. Most missing kid cases its runaways, or a custody thing or some shit like that. Actually having a stranger grab a child is fairly unusual and always makes the news.

Ah, those poor little girls. I thought about that for weeks, it bugged me really bad. I do think they are copy cats, police need to shoot people like this point blank, end of story. If the law got more blunt, less crimes would be committed. :2 cents:

actually kidnappings are down..a lot....something like 13% from last year at this time. its just the news using scare tactics to get ratings...fuckers will do anything to get people to watch their commercials! thats why the only t.v. i watch is simpsons, and sopranos.

I wonder which presidential candidate will run in 2004 on the "stop kidnapping" agenda.

there are no more kidnappings now than before. at least, not a noticable amount more. this is all media hype.

remember the summer of the shark? shark attacks weren't up. the media was just bored.

don't trust what you hear from the news as "epidemic". personally, i think it was just a way to distract us from the real issues of the PATRIOT act and the indefinite imprisonment issues.
