How do you like your Martini?
 

Friday night is closing up, and I'm looking for some recipies for Martini cocktails. Ok the pretty standard one that always works is Sprite + Martini Bianco + some ice cubes.

What else can you recommend?

I like just gin and vermouth... no olive. Haven't really experimented with many martini recipes though.

That's a pussy Martini. It's kind of funny James Bond drinks the sissy shit.

You see, a Martini should be stirred with care not to break the ice and thus water down the Martini. When you shake the fucker, you crush the ice cubes against each other and end up with a watered down product.

Yuk martini... :throwup even writing it down bring that disgusting chemic taste in my mouth.

It's kind of a pussy drink in general.

Not a big fan of Martini myself.

Hell, I just mix whatever I got laying around. Blue hipnotique is good too, but a bit sweet after a while

Go with a splash of olive juice and grey goose vodka, add the traditional olive on the toothepick and enjoy!!:thumbsup

Olive juice?

Traditionally, there's only one real martini - gin and a splash of vermouth (optional olives). Even a vodka martini has to be prefaced with "vodka" because it's an alteration of the classic.

Anything else is just a mixed drink that happens to be in a martini shaped glass. Too bad the word "martini" has been bastardized by the trend of girlie frou-frou drinks. For instance,instead of an Apple Martini - or Appletini - it should be called what it is: "A Sugar Based Artificial Flavored Girlie Drink Put In A Martini Glass To Sound Cool." Same with all the rest.

So the question "How do you like it?" really means - how dry, wet, type of gin, shaken, stirred, olives (how many) and maybe vodka or extra olive juice (dirty)? None of these poseur drinks.

Gin & vermouth, dash of olive juice (the vinegar liquid in olive bottle), 2 olives and 1 onion.
I like a tad bit more vermouth than most do.
