Drugs are getting out of control!

NinjaSteve 03-30-2007 08:43 AM

Taking marketing to a whole new level. That stuff is nasty, and the new commercials I've seen about meth use freaks my shit out.

Babaganoosh 03-30-2007 08:47 AM

It's good to see them trying to expand their market share. I wonder if anyone has suggested lamb & rice flavor and salmon flavor for my dog and cat. Perhaps prune meth for Grandma and chocolate meth for the wife. Meth could be good, clean fun for the whole family.

stillsexy 03-30-2007 08:48 AM

oh no.... never try it though..is it good?

StuartD 03-30-2007 08:49 AM

damn, grape!?!?!

I'm in!!

Fletch XXX 03-30-2007 08:56 AM

Sorry but drugs should be legal, all of them. This is propaganda, if a person wants grape flavored meth, so be it.

The drug war is a joke.

JayDeeZee 03-30-2007 08:59 AM

I hear so many bad things about that drug.

I guess you hear bad things about most drugs.

I don't know what to believe

after a few crazy years it would all even out :thumbsup

The irony is, ABC probably runs Budweiser ads right after this story on the news.

"Its okay to drink your drug, but marijuana is bad." - Bill Hicks

Cigarettes and alcohol = good

Marijuana and all other drugs = bad

I may be a dreamer, but im not the only one.

Oh joy! Now I can die in a realm of fruity flavour!

I'll pass.

Surely you aren't condoning meth. At least with pot is natural. It's a PLANT. It grows in nature. Meth is made with stuff you find under the kitchen sink, sudafed and lithium batteries.

You are clearly ignorant of meth and how bad it is. No one ever got killed because their pot plants exploded.

They need to be immediatley shot in the head. No trial no jury, nothing. Instant death for these fuckers. What's the point of putting them in jail? When they get out they'll go right back to doing the same crap.

I am not "condoning" any drugs actually. But as libertarian, I dont care what you choose to put in your body. How many prescription drug abusers are there?

I am mearly pointing out the irony.

There are more alcoholics ruining their lives than meth addicts, but hey Budweiser is great. And There are more underage drinkers than underage meth users. You think alcohol companies dont make millions off kids?

I dont condone anything, I just point out the hypocrisy.

Of the more than 20 million Americans aged 14 to 20, national surveys estimate that nearly 11 million are drinkers and more than 7 million have indulged in at least one episode of binge drinking, or consuming five or more drinks in one occasion.

Crystal meth is easy to produce in small, clandestine labs, set up in anywhere from homes to hotel rooms, by mixing a cocktail of about fifteen chemicals. The main ingredient, pseudoephedrine (a cold remedy) is cooked with chemicals commonly found at the hardware store, such as red phosphorous, iodine, ammonia, paint thinner, ether, Drano and the lithium from batteries. The recipe is widely available on the internet.

Ick.

HighSociety 03-30-2007 09:15 AM

it probably looks like that so no one will know what it is or think it is drugs if it is seen. I doubt it has a grape taste to it and the news will make it like they are after kids now because of this

Not hypocrisy. LOGIC. Some drugs are good some are bad. FACT. I know more about his topic than you'll ever know. My ex is doing her 4th stint in jail since 2001 as we speak over this crap. I live in a county of less than 17,000 yet not a week goes by that at least one person isn't busted for meth. Usually several are. They not only do the drug, but to support their so called "right" to do it they break into homes and business and steal shit. I don't give a rats ass if you do think it's their right to do it. Fuck their rights. I have rights too.

If you are making meth in a hotel room EVERYONE in the hotel will know because it fucking stinks. The reason why meth is HUGE problem in rural areas like where I live is because you could live in a house and not have a neighbor for 1/2 a mile in any direction around you.

Bruce_Miller 03-30-2007 09:31 AM

It's sad, they are copying the tobacco industry, flavored chewing tobaccos have been targeting the younger age groups, I think the Meth dealers are following suit. Meth is bad stuff, I’m pretty much for many other drugs, but I’ve lost some friends to Meth, it is not anything like Pot, X, G, or even Coke. I think the war on drugs is a joke, they fail to inform people that not all drugs are harmful, while other drugs are completely harmful. Rather they tell people that they are all bad, and put them all on the same level, but when someone figures out something they take isn’t so bad, they then figure the rest of the anti drug information is also false, then one weekend they end up taking Meth, then for most it’s party over.

I figure you've never seen a lung cancer victim on their death bed. They look worse than those photos you posted. Caused by cigarettes.

And you must not have ever seen a really bad drunk. They look like shit too, I mean really.

Marijuana is a plant, its harmless and actually beneficial when used medicinally.

But I do condone the use of crystal meth anyhow. Why tell someone they can't do something if they want?

Freedom, let them have it.

Hey moron when they guy living next to you is tealng your shit to support his habbit and when he is making meth and his lab explodes come back and tell about his rights. When he's exposing his kids to the toxic chemicals in his basement lab tell me about HIS rights. You are a fucking retard.

StuartD 03-30-2007 10:06 AM

Sadly, the people doing the meth aren't the only victims. 9 times out of 10, these people are parents... before and even after the addiction kicks in.

The children then become a child of the system, and the system is more messed up than the addicts. The children get lost in the shuffle and will likely grow up to become the parent.

They perpetuate the cycle, have kids of their own and continue to cost the system more in taxes and government money.

Rinse, dry, repeat.

It doesn't matter if they are legal or illegal, as long as there is a demand there will be a supply one way or another. You have to end the craving people have for drugs, which is nearly impossible but until then no matter what the legality, people will continue to die.

lol..look at the second lady, bottom row of pictures.....that is age progression from '86 to '88...2 years!!!..Try to find pictures of cigarettes or alcohol doing that to somebody over 2 years!..you won't!!!..I'm not saying that alcohol and tobacco aren't bad for you, but to put them in the same class as crystal meth, that's crazy!!

Not the same class but alchol and cigarettes kill more people than any other drugs combined. Also, I'm sure some of the aging is a result of not sleeping/eating, which is also part of the drug but show someone who barely eats or sleeps for years and they probably don't look too health either.

Addicts will remain addicts in jail. There are plenty of drugs in prison. When they get out, nothings is different. Now the people who make and sell, a different story but even those guys are usually addicts too.

If that statement holds true, than you have to agree with this one too: "Murderers will remain murderers in jail. There are plenty of weapons in prison." So is it pointless to lock up murderers too?

look at cigarettes. it doesn't get much more damaging than that, but we let people make the choice to smoke if they want to.

now i don't know shit about meth, but it doesn't take a genius to see through the propaganda bullshit. the only reason people make the shit from household products is because it's the only way to get the precursor chemicals. meth isn't being sold commercially. you can't just goto the store and buy it. so they have to buy products containing the chemicals needed to manufacture it.

meth labs explode? well no shit. i bet i'd blow my fucking house up too if i tried to perform an elaborate chemical synthesis with no highschool education. every fucking drug on the shelf of a supermarket would be dangerous for someone without an extensive chemistry background to attempt to produce in their own fucking home. there is a reason chemists work in safe lab environments and not at home on their stove.

fuck meth. but if someone wants to make a personal choice to use it, they should be able to. we let people drowned themselves in the bottle every day.

cherrylula 03-30-2007 11:56 AM

Whiskey stills explode too. Its just so much easier to get it at the store nowdays. And they make booze bottles in so many pretty colors. Fruity flavored vodka, pretty boxes of cigarettes. About time the meth marketing caught up with the acid, booze and smokes. Legalities relative.

Cigarettes won't make you toothless and kill skin cells to the point of having permanent open wounds within 2 years.
Meth will literally destroy your cells, including brain cells... making it very difficult to retain many short term memories, mess up your ability to communicate and affect your nervous system to the point of losing control over your body. They get VERY shaky and uncoordinated.

Smokes will rot you, but not to the extent or the speed that meth does. Meth will radically change your appearance and IQ within 2 years time and that damage can never be undone.

The difference is that smokers do it for 50+ years, so the effects are visible by the end. Meth addicts have a 20 year life span beyond the start of their addiction. And that's only the lucky ones. If a smoker died within 20 years of starting, it's not likely you'd ever compare the two.

selena 03-30-2007 12:06 PM

I really don't think you can compare meth and cigarettes, or even meth and alcohol, for that matter.

I live in large rural county with a small population. Meth has been a problem here for years. My ex was doing it 10+ years ago, and it was *not* a pretty sight.

One of my friends works as a Child Protective type of thing, but she works through the prosector's office, not the DFC...has powers of arrest, and all that. Meth use is directly responsible for many, many cases of CHINS in our county, whether through abuse or neglect.

Around here, they do rolling labs now, as awareness programs have made people more knowledgable about the smell that emits from a stationary lab.

While I generally do not agree with the war on some drugs, there is nothing that can convince me that meth is an 'ok' drug.
