"The opposition to dot .XXX is substantially overblown."

So said Stuart Lawley at today's ICANN meeting to debate .xxx before tomorrow's expected vote. Read the transcript: http://www.xbiz.com/news_piece.php?id=20854

It's a long read, but highly interesting.

Hope this is true. I think with this registerfly shit now, they're likely to reject Lawley as a potential risk.

Honestly, if you read the transcript, it appears that Lawley's message has much more traction with ICANN than does the message (as it is) coming from this "community."

Sure, FSC is there on our behalf, but the organization is characterized as a small group, representing only a small fraction of the U.S. adult market ? not the 'global community' ICANN is concerned with.

From the tone of the ICANN members, I'm looking at a 50/50 chance that we'll have .xxx approved tomorrow ? or postponed yet again for further debate ? but I'd be VERY surprised if it was killed outright (which is nearly impossible, since ICM would just continue to appeal and try to satisy any of ICANN's concerns).

First Stephen thank you for sharing this info with us and I have agree with you I dont think it looks too good for us folks.I think s big problem many more are against but just never gave a shit one way or another to get involved. There are people I know that work in our industry thinks its awful and did nothing they were too busy in their words. Also I think their are many webmasters who have no idea whats going on. Before webair mike told me about gfy I didnt know about any of this stuff.

Airek should be the voice of the industry during these meetings/earings :2 cents:
