I mean really around the corner. Two people shot dead in their house.

I heard police out earlier today but we live really near one of the prisons that terrorist suspects are kept so you hear the police a lot.

As bad as it sounds I sort of hope one of them shot the other and then committed suicide. Horrible thing to wish but better than there being somebody on the run in our neighbourhood.

I have lived here 10 years and can't remember another gun murder.

I was at my friend's house a few months back...hanging out as usual. Every month or so youd hear the neighbors yell at each other or something right..we did that day, nothing special...short...not too loud just enough to hear, but not distinguish words.

the next day, friend tells me the neighbor stabbed his wife 15 times...

Yikes.. I jokingly tell people I live in 'da hood'. After all, this is the place Clockwork Orange was filled. However, it really isn't very bad so this is actually pretty shocking stuff for us.

Seriously, I have no idea. I had always thought guns were a no-no in Western Europe and now within the past 4-6 weeks I'm hearing of gun related murders in England.

What's the scoop?

crazy shit. not the most comforting of stories.

Most of the gun murders in the past few weeks have been in South East London and amongst black teenagers. Now, I am in South East London and I said to my boyfriend that Peckham, where at least one of them happened, is like the cousin of Thamesmead (where I live). I have no idea what colour these people were and they are older than the other victims so probably not linked but it wouldn't surprise me.

I get the point about banning guns doesn't stop gun crime but there is something going on in the cities where more of a gun culture is popping up and it is just about all gang related..people are almost embarrassed to say it but it is true.

Yet it is still very small fry compared to even small cities in the States...just really noticeable because there has been a spate of them in the last couple weeks.

Used to have drive-bys all the time in my neighborhood as a teen... I won't share any other info about that, hehe.
