Nice last-minute edit by A&E and "Driving Force"

Was watching the season premier of "Driving Force" on A&E tonight, and even through the chaos they've seen in the last week, they done good.
"Driving Force" is the true reality series that follows drag race funny car legend John Force through his life at 330+ MPH romps. I personally remember John when he had to sleep on the top of his race car hauler, and he barely could afford to eat. Thirty years later, he's a 14-time NHRA World Champion, and has 4 of the finest Funny Car teams in the NHRA. On Monday the 19th, his teams were testing after the Gator Nationals in Gainesville, FL. One of his Force's finest drivers, Eric Medlen, was making test runs. And then it all went wrong. Eric Medlen's fuel funny car had a rear tire failure at over 300-mph. The car veered sharply into a concrete retainer wall, the injury was critical. Eric Medlen succumbed to the injuries Friday March 23. The folks at A&E and John Force Racing did some quick edits for the close of the season premier episodes of "Driving Force" before it aired, they made sure to dedicate the season and thank the memories to Medlen. Nice touch, nice tribute. :thumbsup Shows will be repeated on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday, Mar. 31 11:00am 18 - Race Against... 11:30am 17 - The Honeymoo... Sunday, Apr. 1 10:00am 17 - The Honeymoo... 10:30am 18 - Race Against... http://www.aetv.com/drivingforce/ |

I didn't hear about that - I have loved car racing since I was a kid, and it's always so sad to hear that another driver has been seriously injured or died.
Crashes are a part of the spectacle of racing, yet you always hope that the drivers will walk away to race another day. RIP Eric Medlen... http://www.draglist.com/artman/uploads/medlen.jpg ADG Webmaster |

I've been a drag racing fan since I was a kid and went to my first Gatornationals in 1979. I'm a NASCAR fan now but nothing beats the show the drag racers put on. I still go to the Gators when I can and I was able to attend this year.
John Force is a hero and is my favorite sports personality. If you could watch a highlite reel of his drag racing career your jaw would drop in awe. He is truly one of a kind. He has built quite an empire from such humble beginnings and it's all well deserved. The Force team was by far the most popular team there and Eric Medlin was part of that. I got to watch Eric do his last competition burnout and take his last run down the track. Eric and his fellow drivers have provided excitement and thrills for the fans while doing something they love. It doesn't get any better than that. I'm sure Eric wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Here are a few pics of Eric Medlin on his last pass.
