Do you know what you are paying for?
 

I am posting this because I just ran into someone that was looking for a server and went with a company which I will not name because I am not here to attack any host by name but do you really know what you are paying for?

Over here at Splitinfinity when you get a 10mbit server it will cost you around 295.00 a month vs some of these companies who offer you the same bandwidth and lesser server for 79.00 a month.

I have always personally asked myself how?

Today I found out this guy had signed up for a dedicated server with 10mbits for 79.00 dollars a month. I said wow thats a good deal, but then he told me he is paying .5 cents per gig over. Lets stop and think for a moment. While he is only paying 79.00 for 10 mbits, power and direct admin at .5 cents a gig if he goes 1mbit over he is charged $160 dollars a mbit! .

So now if he is with us and he went over he would be charged no more then his committed rate per mbit.

With the other company if he goes two mbits over his committed he now owes 320 dollars to his or hers web hosting company.

I am posting this to say be careful, even if you choice not to host with us, there are plenty of other hosts who will not desieve you. Pick a host who won't take advantage of you by giving you what seems to be a good deal.

and also what is often hidden is what is charged for when you go over your limit? I know you guys only charge overage for server outbound traffic, ie anything coming into the server is gratis, even if it's over your alloted amount -

Is that 10mbit dedicated? is it burstable on a 100mbit port?

GET TO KNOW YOUR ISP GUYS - I know Split doesn't ever try to dress mutton as lamb. Simply because they don't need to. Their bandwidth is premium. It's a damn great price, it's dedicated, it's burstable it's, well QUALITY and a fantastic price.

And if you are not with Split, and you think your ISP has great support... think again. Try Split, and then come back and tell me your old ISP *had* great support, but Split is above all that.

just because one person is like that does not mean all hosts are, our hosts charges us the same we pay per mbit for overage

I agree as I said in my post not all host are like that and I said even if you do not host with us host with somene who is not going to rob you.

Wii have a couple servers there.

Wii were promised a nintendo, but Wii have seen it yet. I sure hope Wii get one soon, because Wii get real bored sometimes....
