Macbook DVD region workaround?

I was trying to play some of my UK DVD's on a US Macbook and I had to change the region. The problem is I am only allowed to change it 3 more times!

Is there a safe way to get rid or this sillyness?

Grab a copy of VLC... should work around the region crap and play any dvd.
