How long does it take for goole to remove the "This site may harm your computer" tag

My host was hacked and my sites had a virus thing put onto it a couple weeks ago. As soon as I told them they removed it but google still has a couple of my sites tagged with that. I know they have that new review system which I have filled out but still waiting.

Never knew Google did that - you got screenshots ?

It takes 2 weeks to 1 month on average. Their may be a way to resubmit your site, or try verifying your site if you haven't.

Of what? The warning? It just says 'this site may harm your computer' and then if anybody clicks on your link they go to what essentially is a FPA about how there is something wrong on your site. Then you (or I did) get an email about how google now has a service to review such sites. At first I thought that email was a scam but I searched around and it is apparently real but now I am playing the waiting game and it is ticking me off a bit.

"You can find out if your site has been identified as spreading malicious software ("badware") by checking the Summary page for the site in webmaster tools. (Note, you need to verify site ownership to see this information.)"

and

"All appeals and reviews are handled by StopBadware.org. Please send an email to [email protected] explaining why you think your site was mistakenly identified or how you have modified your site."

My site got hacked and I got the same warning. I corrected it a couple of weeks ago and requested a review but it is still tagged by google as 'This site may harm your computer'. I don't seem to be getting many hits from google at the moment.. :)

Had a friend with a TGP that had that happen and it took about a month to remove it after filing the appeal

Yeah and it is on sites that are build for adsense so they rather need that traffic.

Sarah_Jayne 03-28-2007 03:35 AM

Does anybody know if you get notified when it has been lifted or you just have to guess?
