I imagine these ships got GPS on board and track their course, so it would be easy to backtrack their course with alot of accuracy to where the fall was first reported, then dispatch their rescue crews to search, probably with the aid of some infrared device as someone pointed out.

When I first read the article, I asked myself, "How can TWO people accidentally fall from a balcony?" but then I read this...."Coast guard officials found the man nude in the water"......and then I thought.....AHA! Now, I know. :thumbsup
