Webair.com - im not paying for stats traffic
I got an email from webair.com today, it basicly says that my $9.95 account had 10,584 MB over the limit, which is 2000 MB. I have double checked all my logs of 46 small domains and it adds up to just 1.4GB of space.
However the stats (server logs) which I can't turn off add up to 11GB over the last year. WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU CHARGING ME FOR STATS LOGS? My bills for the last 12 months have been $9.95 a month. Now you want $1000+ from me? WTF! Also I called your tech support as your sales have gone home for the weekend (so much for 24/7). And then the guy told me he couldn't talk to me about my account because I don't pay them enough for phone support. WTF! BTW - I have 1 IP number, not 3. I'm starting to get sick of this shit. === Message from webair.com ========= Presently I have an invoice about to be generated to you for Storage Overage Fees on your Webair account amounting to 10,584.00 Mb over storage limit as well as 3IP?s over. Your present plan allows for 2000 Mb?s over. You may want to consider upgrading your present plan to the next level. If so, we can work with you on reducing the present overage charges which are $1062.90. Please let me know either way. Please don?t hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or if I may provide assistance! Many thanks! |

why would server logs use bandwidth? unless the server logs were posted to another box somewhere else, that doesn't make any sense
|
Sorry, didnt mean to write bandwidth. Storage space. im just really pissed off!

and webair doesn't let you turn of server logs???? wtf another reason why webair is the top notch stand up operation that it is! haha |

what a fucking joke, charged for server logs you can't turn off ......
|
I wasn't even aware that virtual hosts had access to logs. Do you have access to rotate them or do anything with them?
WG |
then move or disable the logs personally i have all logs deleted after 7 days filled up too many hd's over the years

This is just another case where a phone call to the right person would have taken care of the entire issue. And you obviously know who the reps are here on gfy
Webairs not going to charge you $1,000 for a couple of log files. Hit up gerard or mike on icq in the morning & get it sorted. |

Im going to hit gerard up in the morning.
They cant take $1000 bucks anyway as the card I use to pay the hosting is debit card and there is only ever $100 in it at anyone time. |

Will do. Im just waiting to here back from the BIG MAN himself.
Also reviewing all my domains again. When I had a dedicated server with them (running a program) I had 43GB of movies and pictures (it was a small paysite) but when my partners pissed off I was left holding the ball. So I removed the paysites and its domains but couldn't delete the 43Gb of files from the control panel. So I asked webair to give me a $9.95 account and delete all my content. I just noticed the domain from the paysite and all its 43GB of content is still there but I can't edit/tounch it and I dont have access to it via FTP. Im asuming they didnt move me to a virtual server but made the dedicated server I had a virtual server and left the files + half that size again of a backup file in a zip format. I managed to delete that zip but it just regenerated itself. Go figure. |
move your stuff to a better host
|
I am making a backup plan Fris. Yes.

You get what you pay for.
Webair is shit. Do a search here for "webair sucks" and see what people that matter say about them. P.S. TurboAngel is slacking.. she should have been here 15 posts ago. http://www.darksidedata.com/gfy/brownnoser.jpg |

Dude, if I was you I would move my shit asap and call my bank and tell them to block there charges... |
Its coming from my debit card, no money in it right now. So best of luck getting it. Im also going to change that card, fee's from the bank are too high.
Rowan, im not sure. The email I got (btw which looks like it was from a kid - blue sky background image, blue text etc, very unprofessional looking) says $1062, but the invoice on their control panel says $759. |

Its a shame that you have to be a dedicated customer to get the customer service that eveyone deserves.
Make the slogan "Don't forget about the little people" bring on new meaning. Sorry to hear about your problems. Move over to Phat Servers and you won't have problems anymore. I have a couple boxes with WebAir and with Phat and Phat Servers has without a doubt the best service out of any host I've worked with. |
You talk about storage space, I guess your backup etc situation...... Are you transferring thru the wrong method? Normally you have a 2nd network card installed and you transfer via this method which is lan based and doesnt go thru the internet network which you are paying for bandwidth..
|
man all the posts on this board I never get a good opinion of webair :(
good thing i got my sites hosted elsewhere |
bejeesus - this is outrageous. Storage space should only be charged for your home directory. If you can't configure the apache config to turn off log files, then you shouldn't be charged for them.
Time to make a tarball and migrate to an ISP that cares about their customers, nomatter what level of hosting you pay for. I know which ISP I'd turn to if I were you - they will even migrate your files over for you... |
Zorgman...you can disable log files via your control panel...hit me up ill walk you through it =)) It's pretty simple bud...no worries about the overages as well all you have to do is contact us...
Some people just love to hate funny its always the same few...fris a BIG :321GFY you bottom feeding hacker =) |
