Hmm... when a famous director/actor is nice enough to take the time speaking to a film class, the last thing they're going to want is someone to question and challenge the accuracy of their movie. Movies are movies... meant to entertain and hold the viewers attention... if you want cold hard facts, read a few books.

If it's not clear to what degree the film is based on true facts, misconceptions can embed themselves in viewers who don't know a thing about a particular culture. The Mayans were extremely mathematically advanced and had numerous achievements, and I could understand why someone of Mayan descent would be pissed if that fuckwad presented them as a barbaric simplified sacrificial bunch of psychos, to an audience that doesn't know a thing about them. If someone made a "fictional" film about adult webmasters lurking in the underbelly of the world, giving people cp all day and abusing people, ruining lives, and trying to show their content to minors, everyone here would be all up in arms about the impression made.
