.htaccess to replace hotlinked pics?
So I have an .htaccess to block hotlinkers, but what if I want to replace the pic they are hotlinking with a gif that says "fuck you" etc.
Currently I use: ### Prevent "hot linking" of image files from other sites RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$ RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yourdomain.xxx/.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yourdomain.xxx/. *$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/.*$ [NC] RewriteRule .*\.(gif|GIF|jpg|JPG)$ - [F,L] |
Don't use "FUCK YOU" use a picture of a goat with a party hat.
Not quite sure where you can find a picture like that though...... |
replace last line with this
RewriteRule .*[Jj][Pp][Gg]$|.*[Gg][Ii][Ff]$ http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...1/fdb0e5c8.gif [R,L] |
Not working for me even if I use URL or path to my own pic.

Did you make sure the image is in a NOT protected area?
|
Yep that is it. I am being killed by some taiwanese hotlink BBS's.

So you'll continue to let them suck your bandwidth br providing them a picture to download instead of sending them elsewhere on the net... how brainy...

Is there a way to hotlink protect and have a popup activate instead of a little red X?

We now have 100mbs unmetered Cogent so I think we can serve up a few promotional gif's, even at a low probability of sale. Anyways it is well worth it to send a special thank you to the guy who is doing it....one of our competitors. |

Yep working cool.
Responding a bit to a previous post...If someone hotlinks your movies you can give them an ASF file that will send them to pop up purgatory. I am doing it right now hee hee. |
