Acer laptops

I want to grab a cheap laptop for the wife, just for basic html, blog postings and surfing, nothing too heavy.

Been looking at the ACER ASP9300 Series cause it's got a 17 inch screen, any one got one?
Happy with it, can it run all day without heat probs. etc.

I use one every day. Its a good cheap workhorse. Had it for a year with no probs.

Recommended.

disclaimer: Don't!!!

lalika 03-23-2007 05:24 AM

acers are fine, too bad they a have a *** design

DVTimes 03-23-2007 05:27 AM

why not opt for a dell. they seem cheap, but seem to last for years.

VicD 03-23-2007 05:28 AM

I use a HP Pavilion dv9000, great laptop

Sony's are twice the cost, she doesn't do any design work, so for surfing should be o.k

It's for the wife, I don't care what it looks like. hehe.
If she wants something pretty she can buy it herself.

There's a deal on the Acer ones, and a dell with a 17 inch screen is $300 more

Light work.. it is like a Kia...

It isn't as reliable as a Toyota but then you don't expect to drop it do you?

nekrom 03-23-2007 05:58 AM

I bought an Acer Aspire with Vista a few months back. Works quiet well for daily usage and/or as a travel notebook.

But Sony vaio laptop is not the best to work at.... Acer is much better.

lorine 03-26-2007 12:48 AM

I`m not sure if Acer is the best laptop solution, what about other brands, like HP ?

Bdiddy 03-26-2007 01:39 AM

I've had mine for 8 months and a few months back the motherboard died, but Acer fixed it ASAP and gave me a loaner with no hassle.

All this occured in the Philippines and I bought mine in the states.

Other than that I love mine.

96ukssob 03-26-2007 01:44 AM

personally i would stay away. my boss bought 2 of them and both (little more than "average" use) died within 3 months.

I would go with a dell, they seem to have a better line of laptops and their warranty is really good

darling2 03-26-2007 04:35 AM

Been a happy acer owner for 4 years.

My last one had a 3 year warranty and they replaced everything inside it for free when it melted just before the warranty expired.

ServerGenius 03-26-2007 05:08 AM

I bought an Acer Ferrari 1000. I'm more than impressed with it but it didn't
come too cheap. It's the top of the range Acer model at the moment.

Corleone 03-26-2007 05:27 AM

my acer rocks.. wasnt too cheap either.. but worth every $ :)

ffmihai 03-26-2007 05:36 AM

hmm nice to know. i used to have a bad opinion about Acer

Theo 03-26-2007 05:39 AM

get a lenovo,almost same price,better quality

v4 media 03-26-2007 05:50 AM

It's only for the wife, I got it last Friday,
she hasn't broken it yet.. hehe.
