It depends on your travelling style. I rented a fine and quite centrally located apartment in Pest a few weeks ago, which included a very spacious bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom, free wifi and an own front door for only E50/night and no minimum number of nights. Run by a kind american guy. Email me if you'd like references. (rhesus at gmail)

The four seasons is in a great spot in a magnificent building, and although I haven't stayed there myself I can imagine service is excellent. It's just not my style...

I guess we just want something central doesn't have to be super posch style, wont be spending much time in the hotel or room, but having close access to things is a must.

When are you going? I am going to Prague on the 13th of April and I will be checking out Budapest as well. Budapest is supposed to be amazing but I have heard that there are a lot of pick pockets

Rhesus 03-22-2007 02:31 PM

If you're considering staying in Emke, which is in an alright spot, I would still recommend the apartment :winkwink:

It's cheaper, a lot bigger, and there's something I don't like about Ibis hotels - they're fine and clean but always very sterile and have a lack of atmosphere. The apartment is a bit closer to the Danube, but like in many European cities there's no real 'downtown' to define in Pest - as far as I'm concerned all places mentioned in this thread are in it.

The Four Seasons Gresham Palace absolutely rocks. One of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed at. Excellent location too.

Check out the reviews on Tripadvisor if you don't wanna take my word for it ;)

Make sure you don't forget your bathers! Budapest is unusually well-equipped with thermal baths and it would be a real shame to miss them :-)
