Pretty good-looking for an American car. You'll need to have it replaced every few years though.

ControlThy 08-11-2002 02:31 PM

Hmm, looks out of shape to me.

Why not buy a Merc if you want Merc parts? A Merc will probably last longer too...

It's coming out next spring. And it's not a SUV. more like station wagon.

---------------------------

Yes you might say that. But bmw x5 is a piece of shit.
My SIL has one. I think they just had a 8th recall
in 2 years.

mic 08-11-2002 04:31 PM

Another American peace of garbage. BTW Chrysler just did mass recall of PTCruisers .
And you can't even compare BMW 5 with any Chrysler models.

Why you need a Mercedes parts if you can own M-B 230 for 35K Canadian $

That looks more like a wagon than an SUV. What about the Infiniti G35 Coupe:

Rose 08-11-2002 05:26 PM

BMW 5
is one of the worst cars for quality.
Only car that had more recalls is Ford Focus (recalled 9 times).

I Don't know, couple of my friends have one - no problem, maybe it depends where this car came from (maybe US made :1orglaugh ) even with recalls what you are mention I could not imagine BMW versus Chrysler or Ford comparison...

----------------------------

Yes I think it's US made.

Actually Chrysler group of Daimler Chrysler has better quality
on average today than Mercedes group.
:)
BMW and Mercedes made big mistakes
opening plants in Alabama and other southern states.
People overthere have never seen auto plant
before.
If you have a time go to JDPower site
and see for yourself.
BMWX5 is rated average or under average in a lot of the
categories.

uhm no

they are one of the smoothest suv's, with power like you would not believe

before you have really put a bmw x5 to it's limits, if you are even able to, then you shouldn't talk smack about this beautiful machine :)

Thanks Rose, but I never rely on opinion of some organization, there are to many factors what can made an influence. For me more reliable source are people who own this car + re-selling value. And I drive from time to time M-B, BMW and Chrysler and from my experience you can't compare Chrysler with M-B and BMW. You may only compare Chrysler with Ford - for me both cars are the same sh..
:)

Bree 08-11-2002 07:12 PM

I need a new car... i want an SUV but can't decide on what to get...

I like the car I drive (Nissan240sx). Nothing fancy (first car I bought after my divorce)... wondering if an SUV is gonna be too slow?

I agree with any Ford being shit.
That's the car I'll never buy. Ford and rice burners (japanese cars).

The BMW X-5 has had eight recalls . BMW reports these as "customer concerns". Some of the concerns include small items like brake failures and loss of power. No biggie.

May I ask why?
----------------

Sure you may mic.
I think they are ugly, no style.
I love US or Europeans cars.
But I owned one rice burner (Accord)
That car let me down 200 miles past North Bay
in the middle of nowhere, in January -40 outside.
It was great.

mic 08-12-2002 11:46 AM

I drive a lot of EU cars in Israel and Belgium - French and Italian, but you can not compare it with smooth Japanese.
I see you personal reason to hate it, I have almost the same story with Pontiac and I own Toyota Sienna right now - the best Van what I ever drive.
About style - its just matter of taste - I know, many women prefer American, I think size is appealing to them in subconscious level (just a joke)
:glugglug

mic 08-12-2002 11:47 AM

Many women here prefer Lexus over any domestic made cars. I personally like new Caddillacs in terms of style...

Yes mic.
Everybody is different.
Someone likes apples, someone oranges.:)
We have Grand Caravan ES and I also think it's the best van ever made. My husband is using Jeep Liberty (company car) and it's a nice SUV. Besides these days it's hard to say what is Japanese, American or European car. Mazdas are made by Ford, Jaguars are made on Ford platforms with Ford parts, some Ford cars will be made on Volvo platforms, Suzukis made by GM in Ontario, Nissan is owned by french, Mitsubishi is owned by germans (just like Chrysler), Pontiac Vibe is build by Toyota, new Chrysler Crossfire will be build by Mercedes in Germany, and you will see Chrysler plants building Mercedes cars and trucks sooner than you think.

So who knows......LOL

Cadillac makes the sweetest SUV out there.

Now I understand - another personal reason, probably your husband work some how on Chrysler..

BTW. I work for 2 years for a big GM supplier and everybody except me drive GM... No wonder they did not extend my contract...

:1orglaugh :(

Rose 08-12-2002 10:14 PM

Yes he is a designer. He works in Detroit, that's why we are stuck
in Windsor....
But I grew up with the cars. My father owned repair shop in Burlington.
